We have received emails from AOL members who are having trouble listening to AOL Radio when using the AOL software. We have identified the cause and are working as quickly as possible to correct it. In the mean time, you will find suggestions below on how to fix the problem yourself until we can make the internal fix.
Option #1) Use Internet Explorer, Firefox or Safari to run AOL Radio - This is the EASIEST fix
Since Internet Explorer comes with all Windows computers, this would be the preferred method.
a) Launch Internet Explorer
[Go to the "Start" menu on your XP or Vista Computer, browse through your programs to find Internet Explorer]
b) After loading a new browser window, type http://www.aolradio.com in the address window and hit enter.
Option #2) Use Our Temporary Mini-Player
We have a temporary mini-player that will work for all AOL users. Click on this link:
http://music.aol.com/radioguide/aol
to load this player.
Option #3) Change Your Version of Flash to Run AOL Radio inside AOL - Advanced Users Only
a) Inside of AOL, please visit this website: http://www.macromedia.com/software/flash/about/
b) At the Adobe website, it will have a box that says VERSION INFORMATION (I've circled it above).
c) If it says 9,0,115,0 - you should upgrade to version 9,0,1510. Follow these steps1) To upgrade your Flash player to 9,0,151,0, go to this link: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/installers/current/9/install_flash_player_9_ax.exe2) If it asks you whether you want to run the file, hit "Run"
3) When finished installing, quit out of AOL and any web browsers you may have open.4) Launch AOL again. Go to this page: http://www.macromedia.com/software/flash/about/ to make sure you are running version 9,0,151,0.d) If it says 10,0,12,36, you must UNINSTALL this version of Flash and install an earlier version of Flash. To uninstall Flash:
5) Try launching AOL Radio again.1) Go to "Start" on your Windows computer. Find your "Control Panel" (it should either be in the Start Menu already or inside the "Settings" tab, depending on your Windows configuration)
2) Click on "Add or Remove Programs".
3) In the box that appears, click on Adobe Flash Player ActiveX and then hit the "Remove" button.
4) If you have another program underneath that says Adobe Flash Player, highlight that option and hit "Remove" as well.
5) Inside AOL, go to this link: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/installers/current/9/install_flash_player_9_ax.exe .
6) If it asks you whether you want to run the file, hit "Run"
7) When finished installing, quit out of AOL and any web browsers you may have open. Reboot your computer.
8) Launch AOL and sign-in again.
9) Try launching AOL Radio again.
Thanks. As always, send me a note at: TCinRadioNYC@aol.com if you are still having problems.
