Bring Dat Beat Back (5/5): "'Battlefield' starts off rather brilliantly with 'Walking On Snow,' a fun & catchy opener with an interesting message. Jordin can sing anything, but I am truly in love with the middle portion of 'Battlefield' because... her voice is simply amazing [at] midtempos. Jordin puts that killer voice to excellent use to a soundtrack that is, honestly, much better than her debut."
Newsday B-: "Jordin Sparks' sophomore album, 'Battlefield' (Jive), was probably named after the overwrought title track.. But throughout the album, there really does sound like a battle brewing. On one side is the Jordin... with interchangeable songs about surface-y stuff like battlefields and love-like things. On the other side is the actual 19-year-old. ...It isn't horrible, but it seems like a waste."
Gossip On This B: "There is no doubt in my mind that... Jordin Sparks will stay in the game for a while. ...Her songs have gotten more mature and she's written four of the best songs on the album. ...She is reminiscent of a young Mariah Carey and with time, she will only get better."
