55. There was so many great songs in the 80's and we have MTV for giving us visional for those hits we love. I waited for the the music station-MTV- that gave us a way to select best song. It gave birth to VMS. Not only did we give listening salutes to the artist but the videos gave the song life. The video matched the songs and my television stayed on MTV to hear, see and make my selection that I felt needed to be on the top 10 songs of the 80's. By the way, where is my honey, Meat Loaf. He was beautiful outside as he was on the inside. He is a powerful singer and able to make opeara songs mainstream. I love you Lee Adler.

59. I remember on VH1's Behind The Music, Def Leppard was going to lose a lot of money unless the Hysteria album sold a certain number of records. Sales had stalled well short of that until the Sugar single was released. After that song, sales went through the roof.

60. The Police will always be the 80's for me. King of Pain is the best song Sting ever wrote for The Police. Every Breath was ok, but Every Little Thing (She Does is Magic) will forever be "our song" between my husband and I. Every Breath was #1 the day my oldest son was born.
U2 deserves a shout-out also. The Joshua Tree was brilliant.

63. Lame. Never mind that "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" is not the chosen Cyndi Lauper song, but The Smiths' "How Soon Is Now" is missing, as is New Order's "Blue Monday", and while not a big fan, I don't see how you can leave Madonna out, and truly, Thriller should have been higher. The whole list is frankly lacking.

3.never ending story

65. What a joke. "Sweet Child O Mine" by GnR blows ALL these songs away -- hands down (and as much as I like "Every Breath"). And no Almann Brothers ("Jessica") -- and no Van Halen at all! Person who made ths list wasn't there in the 70s, thats for sure. And putting by Prince on the list is just laughable. He's the bad taste joke of the 70s.

66. Any top 10 80's list must have U2. I still haven't found what I'm looking for should be in the top 3.

77. At the age of twelve I can only name about half of these (but all artists), but for my area that's impressive. I read someone saying that when they read "'80s Hair Songs"--um, I don't see the word Hair anywhere on this entire article, do you? So that's why.
Of course, just like every other decade, pop prevails, being the reason there's no AC/DC or Poison. You could always request an '80s Rock list, or '80s Hairband.
Anyway, I'm happy Journey can still keep their slot as number one on this list. =]

88. Serena- I don't know you but if you lived thru the best genre for music-the '80s like I did, 2 of the best bands during that time you fail to mention. They took their music seriously just like me & a lot of other fans! U2 and INXS made me realize what music is all about. How could you not have "With Or Without You" in your top 10? How about "New Sensation"? The best music years in the '80s were between 1985-88. LIVE AID had something to do with that! GO GELDOF!
Posted at 7:17AM on Jun 12th 2010 by OB1KNOB
89. No Olivia Newton John? Physical was number 1 for 10 weeks. Magic for 5 weeks. Make a Move on Me, Heat Attack, Xanadu, Little More Love, Twist of Fate were all top 10 hits and she doesn't even get a mention or a song played????

93. To SClanney1977-Was that the year you were born? Nena aka Gabriele Kerner had that pardon the pun "pop" hit in '84. Does that mean you were counting 99 balloons or just luftballooning when you were just 7? I was 19 then and I believe Nena was older than me! Which means she's either pushed or is pushing the button to the 50th floor! GO SCLANNEY1977 for being a Nena fan! An awesome 1-hit wonder.

100. The eighties was a great decade for music. These songs were great. So were thousands of others. Many were one hit wonders. We are all right on this not being the only best. Our music defines our lives and our souls. Keep listening. And they forgot anything by Phil Collins. Sheesh!
