10 Best Michael Jackson Albums

As we continue to celebrate the legacy of the King of Pop, we present a list of the Best Michael Jackson Albums, as rated by AOL Radio listeners. This list includes MJ's solo work and his albums with the Jackson 5.
The album is comprised of five new songs and eight remixes from MJ's 1995 studio album, 'HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I.' Despite mixed reviews, the album still stands as the best selling remix album ever released.

Despite being less successful than The Jackson 5's three previous albums, this album includes the most sampled and covered material out the group's work by such artists as Puff Daddy, Jim Jones, and Chris Brown, to name a few. The song, 'Never Can Say Goodbye,' for example, was covered by Issac Hayes, James Brown and Gloria Gaynor.
Jackson 5 Maybe Tomorrow
This is Jackson's final studio album and the first to include all new tracks since his 1991 album 'Dangerous.' It debuted at No. 1 in 13 countries and the album cover -- revealing an artsy headshot of Michael Jackson -- was originally available in four other colors besides silver.

The Jackson 5's third studio album garnered two No. 1 singles -- 'ABC' and 'The Love you Save,' -- the former knocking the Beatles' 'The Long and Winding Road' out of the Hot 100-leading spot. Other featured songs in this album are Jermaine's only lead song, 'I Found That Girl,' as well as 'The Young Folks,' initially recorded by Diana Ross.
Jackson 5 ABC
His 1995 album (one side his singles collection, the other his ninth studio album) is the best selling multiple disc album of all time, selling over 18 million copies worldwide. This is also MJ's most controversial album, mainly due to half naked footage of Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley in his 'You Are Not Alone' music video, as well as anti-Semitic accusations for the lyrics in 'They don't Care About Us.'
Michael Jackson HIStory Past Present and Future Book I
This was The Jackson 5's most successful album, reaching NO. 4 on the Billboard 200 album charts and No. 1 on the R&B album charts. The album includes their fourth consecutive No. 1 single 'I'll Be There' on the US pop chart.
Jackson 5 Third Album
'Dangerous' -- Jackson's second-best selling album -- is the most successful 'swingbeat' album of all time and was the first album to include eight consecutive UK Top 20 Hits. The debut of the video 'Black or White' on November 14, 1991 was simultaneously broadcast in 27 countries to the largest audience to ever watch a music video, approximately 500 million people.
Michael Jackson Dangerous
An album full of 'firsts,' this was not only Jackson's first album without Motown Records, but was the first album to ever release four No. 1 singles in the U.S. The album was produced by Quincy Jones, who Jackson originally worked with in the musical film 'The Wiz.' Jackson wrote the debut single, 'Don't Stop 'til You Get Enough' which won him his first Grammy award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance; other songs on the album were written by heavy weights Rod Temperton, Stevie Wonder and Paul McCartney. In 2008, this album was inducted in the Grammy Hall of Fame.

Jackson's initial intentions were to release this album as a three-disc set, including an estimated 30 recorded songs (cut down from 60 self written songs). However, producer Quincy Jones trimmed down the album into the final LP, which includes 11 songs -- nine written and composed by Jackson alone and another hit song, 'Man in the Mirror' produced by Jackson. Two Grammys came out of this album, one for Best Engineered Album-Non Classical and another for Best Music Video-Short Form for 'Leave Me Alone,' which appeared on the album as a bonus track.
Michael Jackson Bad
Deemed as the best selling album of all time, 'Thriller' produced seven Top 10 singles (two of them reaching No. 1), was awarded eight Grammys, and stayed at No. 1 for 37 weeks. Jackson's passion for creating music videos (easily comparable to short films) surfaced in this album when promoting his hit singles 'Thriller,' 'Billie Jean' and 'Beat It.' Time magazine's 1984 praise on the album: "For a record industry stuck on the border between the ruins of punk and the chic regions of synthesizer pop, Thriller was a thorough restoration of confidence, a rejuvenation."
