Dethklok, the virtual death metal band from the animated series 'Metalocaylpse,' are this week's guest bloggers. Courtesty of 'Metalocaylpse' creator Brendon Small, band members Nathan Explosion, Skwisgaar Skwigelf, Toki Wartooth, Pickles, and William Murderface collectively reveal their 10 favorite albums.
Nathan Explosion: Dude, F---ing Sabbath. . . They did this record in one day. Every song is bad ass. F---ing Tony Iommi lost two fingers and STILL recorded it! This band is magic and evil and that's a good combination for Metal. F--- yeah.
William Murderface: I still think this is one of the best metal albums of all time. I'd put it up against Judas Priests 'British Steel' any day of the week.
Skwisgaar Skwigelf: More Scandinavians Metal for you. Dis am a newer ones. Dese guys are robots froms anothers planets. It ams verys articsulatelys executeds, and dat ams a supremes complimentks comings from me. Also funs to have sex tos. I has to be really warmed up though and keeps mind of where ONE is. . .
Toki: Still one of de most epics albums of all times. I nearly becames a professionals puppeteer because of dat song. I still haves my old marionettes, no joke!
Pickles: Yeah, I'm a prog nerd AND I'll beat you up. They made ugly s--- sound scary and f---ing cool. It's where I stared annoying my girlfriends and counting odd time signatures and ruining their nights. . . I'd keep girls in headlocks while I try to count FIVE over FOUR. . . Oh they hated it. .
Nathan Explosion: F--- yeah, King Diamond dude. I like horror movies, I like metal, therefore I like King Diamond. He's a perfect combination of both. He has like a hundred different voices and each one is bad ass. And dude, 'Curse of the Pharaohs', dude. . .
Skwisgaar Skwigelf: Yuh. Dis prettys much blews opens de doors for me, you knows. A fellows Swedes alsos. Yuh, he plays about four thousand notes in a abouts a secods. Real inspirings stuff. He ams Swedish too. Dids I mentions dat? Oh, It's ams a goods albums to makes loves tos. . . There ams some fun rhythmics interpolations that I likes to match with my hip thrustings. The best note groupings for makings love would has to be sextouplettes. . .
Toki Wartooth: Dis ams a diamonds in de rough froms a greats band. It ams very keyboards driven and it ams a conkepts albums abouts robots fallings in love with humans. like a bunch of space ladies in outer space fallings in loves with space dildos robots or somethings like that. Verys much like how things am here on Earths. a real wakes up calls to us. . .
William Murderface: Dude. Angel of Death. That's all I have to say. Oh and also it's 'historically accurate metal'. And i know this because I plagiarized most of it for a history paper in community college. I got a C on that paper, but anyway. F---ing bad ass s---. Dude it's a good song to listen to before a fight, or an argument, or a verbal assault and a quick drive away.
Nathan Explosion: Cannibal Corpse kicks f---ing ass. This is one of the most brutal album openings ever 'Severed Head Stoning' and it has a double meaning- It could mean that YOUR head was severed and then stoned OR it could mean that you are being stoned by severed heads. Either way it's bad ass.
2. Oh gosh. Number six. I've always liked Pickles, but those four little words strike right to my heart. 'I'm a prog nerd'. I've made friends because of prog rock and discussions about King Crimson. Thank you for creating characters with so much human complexity.
6. Oh C'mon Brendon! Slayer? Cannibal Corpse!? Cary Kings a nice guy n all, but slayer sucks man. And Cannibal Corpse is black metal. Skwisgar can shred circles around slayer AND cannibal corpse with his left nut! I know dethklok is a cartoon band but i still hold them in much higher regard then menial bacnds like cannibal corpse and slayer.
1. Metallica...#7...psh, can totally see Toki as a Puppetmaster though :D
