55. This is liking asking which of your kids is your favorite! I will give my top 10 choices but my #1 choice to me is a song/trilogy, 3 separate songs that are always played together on the radio. I also reserve the right to change my mind on the order or songs themselves depending on mood, weather, year or any of a variety of reasons!
10. Twist and Shout
09. I Just Saw a Face
08. I Saw Her Standing There
07. Eleanor Rigby
06. She's Leaving Home
05. Yesterday
04. Across the Universe
03. Things We Said Today ("Get Back" was my original choice here until I was reminded of the song I chose for my wedding. Oops! Also a sneaky way to get in another song.)
02. Oh! Darling
01. Golden Slumber / Carry That Weight / The End
Great! Now I feel guilty for including "Sgt. Pepper" "Come Together", "I am the Walrus", "Back in the USSR", "Run For Your Life" & "Helter Skelter" but it was just not a "Rock" day for me but more of a mellow day which makes me sad that I did not include "The Long and Winding Road", "Nowhere Man" or " Paperback Writer". Being sad now has me wanting to add...
See what I mean, I just can't do it! But since it is typed (but not laminated) here is my list as of June 9, 2010 @ 19:16 PDT and I better hit enter before 17:17PDT brings about changes!

56. The Beatles were, are and always will be the most amazing and talented band to ever create music. Each of the four brought their own incredible talents to the group. Then John let his demons overtake him. People praise him as some great human being, but he was a lousy husband (Cynthia, whom he totally screwed in the divorce) and a pathetic father (Julian, whom he blithely abandoned just as he had been as a child. John was basically a self-involved weirdo who married Ono once he realized that she would disengage him from the rest of the world. I'm just thankful the group lasted as long as they did and changed the face of music everywhere. Today we have this sad collection of "artists" who can neither sing a decent melody nor create any lasting music of value. The decline started with so-called "punk" rock and has climaxed with the rock-bottom category of "rap," where literally anyone can call themselves artists and musicians.

59. I agree with every song listed - they are all great. Two songs that I have an even better apprecition for now than I did in my younger years are Paperback Writer and Back in the USSR. I love to rock out and those are 2 great rockin' songs.

60. Hey Jude is #2.
Let It Be is #1 of all time, all songs. It will be sung at my funeral if i die.
Live & Let Die is up there too.
The rest is just gravy... wonderful.
And that's from a guy who played his SPLHCB vinyls pretty much every day non-stop until the grooves wore smooth. The top two weren't even part of that marvel of modern musicals. But my favorite Beatles lyrics do come from that set, "And in the end, the love you make is equal to the love you take." But I prefer these words instead: "The love you *get* is equal to the love you *give*. That's my life philosophy... Oh, and the groovy version of Revolution is a personal favorite, but not a top 10.

65. Hey, nothing wrong with punk rock. Some of it's rubbish, but so is some "Classical" When The Beatles started, they WERE Punk Rock! As far as John goes, every Beatle has been pretty bad at one time or another. John included, only more so. But then he never wanted to be a Beatle. He wanted to be a Rolling Stone. Glen Matlock got kicked out of the Sex Pistols because he wanted to be a Beatle. To bad hhe was the only one who could write decent songs consistantly. They usually call fight over Fame, Women or Money "Artistic Differences" In this case, it actually was.

68. How can you possibly make a list of the top ten Beatles songs, it would be easier to list the ten worst if THAT is even possible. However if I were composing the top 10 I would have to pick "In My Life" as #1. I can't think of a better, more meaningful song at all!

76. It does not get ANY better than The Beatles!! The Stones call themselves "the world's greatest rock band" - what a bunch of horse cookies. The Stones are not even a pimple on The Beatles' a**.
What about "Tomorrow Never Knows"? A great song to listen to when you're under the influence (of whatever!) And what woman would not want to make mad passionate love to George after hearing "Something"?

86. I have a huge collection of John Lennon stuff ans all the books written about him and he never wanted to be a Stone he created the Quarrymen and went from there to finally in the end The Beatles, he was frriends with Jagger they were acid tripper buddies but in the beginning he was a Beatle, they were his life, put them above his first son Julian, the beatles always came first till he got older met Yoko and fell in love, then he changes his feelings toward them.

87. The first five on MY list are the 5 most original and best written songs. two from John, two from Paul and one from George. These are the masterpieces. The remaining five are quite simply the best rest of the top ten best Beatles songs.
1. Hey Jude
2. Tomorrow Never Knows
3. Here, There and Everywhere
4. A Day In The Life
5. Something
6. In My Life
7. Sergent Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

10.I Want To Hold Your Hand

88. Hey, no way is the a list of the best Beatles SONGS. But these ARE great Beatles TRACKS or RECORDS. But a great song stands on its own and is usually covered by hundreds of other artists. (Yesterday and In My Life do belong on the song list. They've been singled out for awards before by songwriters.) A Day in the Life might be the Beatles greatest TRACK. Eleanor Rigby probably belongs on the greatest song list and greatest track list. I agree mostly with #43's list.

89. Top Beatles Songs? Something by George Harrison is important! and "Nowhere Man" wasone of the early best songs not about love and had amazing harmoines just like "Because" Ringo deserves a song too- Octopus's garden or Yellow Submarine are well known, and the whole planet knows Hey Jude. and of course "Birthday"- nobody else ever wrote a good rock birthday song- and the famous Sgt. Pepper or "The End"?- this published list is not the most known or best Beatles songs- We Can Work It Out is hardly a good song. Yesterday is the most re-recorded (covered) song in history with Hey Jude close behind
Posted at 2:35AM on Aug 23rd 2010 by Bob
90. I could listen to Hey Jude 1,000,000 times in a row.. :) and its not on there!!

91. Yes,,, its very difficult to list the 10 BEST Beatle songs. Its a matter of perception! Its Hard to omit, Hey Jude,,, Something,,, I want you {shes so heavy}
Posted at 9:51AM on Aug 28th 2010 by Bruce
92. I have to say that if I made a top three I would have to have "Can't Buy Me Love" "Eight Days a Week" "Hello Goodbye" "Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band" "Octopus's Garden" and "Lucey in the Sky with Diamonds" :D
Posted at 5:57PM on Aug 30th 2010 by Mystic
93. Paul McCartney was the real talent,of the Beatles,I
mean every song he sang turned to gold!I think John Lennon was high all the time, him and broko yawno!!!!
Ringo and George were very important to the FAB FOUR,
but without the McCARTNEY MAN,the Beatles would have had
several hits, but Paul made them the FAB FOUR!!Just think after they broke up Paul McCartney and WINGS just
kept the hits coming, and the rest of the band???
I know George Harrison had a top 25 song, as did Ringo
Starr! I think John Lennon was either or I should say
stoned out of his freakin mind for then most part!!
I don't mean to sound so harsh, but if John thought he
(or they)were greater than God,it sure as hell didn't stop them bullets, oh well R.I.P. John and George!!
P.S. I'm sorry if I pissed anybody off
but the truth hurts !!!!!
ROCK ON Paul,and Ringo
BORN AT THE VERY START OF THE
"60'S"(1960)and I have a very good memory
I'm just lost in the 70's THANK YOU

95. Why is Hey Jude missing? Dear Prudence? Something? Across the Universe? I agree that you have to have a top 50 when it comes to The Beatles, but exclude Hey Jude makes zero sense.

96. My best advice for this nearly impossible task is to create your list, then eliminate those ten songs from consideration. I find the second list a bit more surprising and satisfying:
10. No Reply
9. Got to Get You Into My Life
8. She's Leaving Home
7. I'm Looking Through You
6. Because
5. Martha My Dear
4. Yes It Is
3. Please Please Me
2. Something
1. Long Long Long, Eleanor Rigby, Yesterday, Julia
OK I admit that was cheating, but that was my best effort! I coulees probably eliminate all of these as well and still have a great list.
