2010 Lincoln MKZ and MKS Commercials -- What's the Song?
In the Lincoln MKZ commercial (featured below), Shiny Toy Guns do an electronic mash cover of Peter Schilling's 'Major Tom (Coming Home).' Schilling's new wave single was recorded in both German and English, the latter featured on his 1983 international album 'Error in the System.' Shiny Toy Gun's version can be found on their remix album 'Girls Le Disko.'
Shiny Toy Guns also prepared another awesome retro-remix for Lincoln: Blue Oyster Cult's 'I'm Burning for You' to coincide with 2010's Lincoln MKS ad slogan "Cleaner.Faster. Smarter." Rock group Blue Oyster Cult -- known for their other hit singles '(Don't Fear) The Reaper,' 'Astronomy,' 'Godzilla,' and 'Cities on Flame with Rock and Roll' -- featured 'Burnin' for You' on their 1981 LP 'Fire of Unknown Origin.' Check out the Lincoln MKS commercial below!
2. Your review hits on critical points that we technology marketers need to remember...we do not need to reinvent the supporting media, but we can sometimes think about reinventing these to get the win. Also, the syncopation between the music and features of the vehicle were masterful. Thanks to the reviewer for reminding us of the idea that we need to be thinking about the breakthrough ideas in mrketing that don't necessarily require starting from scratch. Kuddos!
