10) Eminem: 'Lose Yourself'
This Grammy Award-winning song was featured in the critically-acclaimed flick '8 Mile' as well as Eminem's 2005 greatest hits album, 'Curtain Call: The Hits.' Eminem wrote the song on the movie set of '8 Mile' to describe his character in the film. The song is often played on PA systems to prep sport teams up before they hit the field.
9) 2 Unlimited: 'Get Ready for This'
'Get Ready For This' is the Belgian-Dutch dance group 2 Unlimited's most popular song in the US. And it is also the most popular song played at the start of a sporting event. "Ya'll ready for this?"
8) Zombie Nation: 'Kernkraft 400'
Zombie Nation's project-creator and German DJ Florian Senfter admits the song could have used a "friendlier name." (Note: 'Kernkraft 400' is German for "Nuclear Energy.") Sampling David Whittaker's 'Stardust' -- featured in the 1984 Commodore 64 computer game 'Lazy Jones' -- the song was independently released in '99 becoming an underground hit in Euro clubs. The 'Sport Chant Remix' was a huge hit specifically in the US, making the playlist at sporting events, especially during timeouts. Marquette University discovered this German techno single back in 2002.
7) Survivor: 'Eye of the Tiger'
We all love this 'Rocky III' theme song for it's brilliant lyrics. The 1982 sports song also conjures the image of a brave animal. It's perfect for football players, marathon runners, and boxing matches. Actually, anyone preparing for a challenge, should turn on 'Eye of the Tiger.'
6) Metallica: 'Enter Sandman'
The notable guitar riffs were written long before the lyrics, which James Hetfield re-wrote at the request of Lars Ulrich and producer Bob Rock. Based on a child's nightmares, the song is a favorite entrance number, most notably for the Virgina Tech's Hokies and Iowa's Hawkeye's football team as well as Yankee's relief pitcher Mariano Rivera.
5) AC/DC: 'Back In Black'
Written in memory of former lead singer Bon Scott, the tune is featured on their sixth internationally released studio album 'Back in Black ' -- which was the second biggest selling album of all time after Michael Jackson's 'Thriller.' A song about getting wasted with your buddies is a perfect asset when watching sports, where you will, inevitably, be getting wasted with your buddies.
4) Republica: 'Ready to Go'
Released on Republica's 1996 eponymous album, 'Ready To Go' has been featured on Boston Red Sox's playlist at Fenway. It was also previously played during the Chicago Bulls '96-'97 season, as the Michigan State Spartans' entrance song, and at NHL's Nashville Predators home games.
3) Ozzy Osbourne: 'Crazy Train'
Ozzy's first single as a solo artist after leaving Black Sabbath, 'Crazy Train' has at one point been played at home games for the NFL New England Patriots and San Diego Chargers, as well as the MBA Houston Astros, Atlanta Braves, Colorado Rockies, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The song even plays everytime Cleveland Indians third baseman Chipper Jones comes up to bat.
2) Gary Glitter: 'Rock & Roll Part 2'
This sports song was originally 15 minutes long, but was then divided into two parts. Part 2 is featured on many soundtracks for such flicks as, 'The Sandlot,' 'Any Given Sunday,' 'The Longest Yard' and 'The Replacements,' and even made the top of the charts in the US and in the UK. Sadly, it's rare to hear 'Rock & Roll 2' live anymore -- the NFL and professional and college teams have decided to stop playing the song after Gary Glitter was under investigation in 1997 for child sexual abuse scandals.
1) Queen: 'We Will Rock You'
Clapping, stomping, and fist-pumping are innate when hearing this classic rhythmic sports song. Whenever you hear 1977's 'We Will Rock You,' you'll likely hear Queen's other classic hit and power ballad 'We Are the Champions.' No doubt, 'We Will Rock You' is our No. 1 Top Sports Song.
