'Almost Alice' -- New Album

Almost Alice

'Almost Alice' is the buzzworthy soundtrack to Tim Burton's upcoming Disney flick 'Alice in Wonderland.' The Mar. 2-released 'Almost Alice' will feature artists "re-imagining songs from the Disney classic" -- specifically Owl City, Motion City Soundtrack, 3OH!3, Metro Station, Robert Smith from the Cure, among others, fuse the imaginative children's fable with emo, punkrock, and synthpop melodies, as well as lyrics which cover the film's thematic transitions, the infamous tea time, and of course, the story of the white rabbit.

'Alice' -- penned and sung by Avril Lavigne -- is the lead single off the album. Undoubtedly not her best (compared to the other featured tracks) the ballad still favorably mixes her signature angst-driven vocals with a softer, more pleasing side of her voice in the bridge: "I found myself in Wonderland / Get back on my feet again / Is this real, is it pretend / I'll take a stand until the end."

Other highlights include All-American Rejects serene, mid-tempo ballad 'The Poison' (the bridge taking a psychedelic spin), Tokio Hotel and Kerli's emo-sounding 'Strange' and Franz Ferdinand's playful vocals in 'Lobster Quadrille.' Blink-182's Mark Hoppus and Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz collaborate on 'In Transit,' an eerie piano-driven track exuberating uneasiness and change. Even Aussie group Wolfmother's 'Fell Down a Hole' showcases their signature heavy guitar riffs (similar to the guitar runs in 'Woman' that you've rocked out to on 'Guitar Hero').

The film -- starring Mia Wasikowska, Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter -- will debut in theaters Mar. 5. To hear a selection of tracks (listed below) from the album, tune into AOL Radio's New Alternative First station.
