'The Blackest Lily' is Corinne Bailey Rae's newest single off her sophomore-released 'The Sea.' The song -- one of many introspecitve yet self-therapeutic tracks -- starts off with her whimsical, boho soul vocals and builds with heavy rock percussion and electric guitar-driven melodies, matching her voice as she belts in the chorus: "The blackest lily / The blackest pomy / Won't protect my heart from you."
Upon it's Jan. 26th release, 'The Sea' debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 albums chart with 53,000 albums sold. 'The Blackest Lily' is a follow-up to 'I'd Do It All Again.' Tune into AOL Radio's Female Focus station to hear her new track.

1. I just saw Corinne Bailey Rae perform less than 24 hours ago at the "House of Blues" in New Orleans, LA where my family are natives. She is by far the most elegantly poised performer i have ever had the privilege (and indeed it was a privilege) to see live. She wore a silk black jumpsuit trimmed with white with T-shirt length sleeves. Her shoes were seamless gold sequence baby doll style. Her hair was all down and full of glorious body. She was G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S and possessed a childlike innocence. Something about her (and I'm sure it's her spiritual life) made me in an inexplicable way want to be an even better ME. Her genuine concern for others is ever apparent through not only music but also the testimony of how she treats others while on stage. She gave much homage to her gifted band members with such admiration that you could not help but to at least grin b/c her appreciation for them and also the audience was exquisitely humble. She made everyone in the house feel like they were of value. I was fortunate enough to stand on the first row of the standing audience, so much so that I placed my purse on the stage. I yelled "Corinne I love your hair!" And she chuckled and said while pointing to me that she loved mine also (while tugging her hair) and then she said at least two other sentences but I could not make them out b/c the crowd was screaming so loudly for her. (Note my hair is the same grain as hers and I absolutely love that people kept asking me if I was related to her; I would say "I'm just a fan" One person even asked if I was her sister; Talk about made my night) Only one person got to get an autograph and his name was Michael. He must of seen my disappointment when I didn't get to get an autograph, so he handed me this flat little green nickle sized triangle plastic thing that Corrine used to play her stringed instrument for "The Sea" which is on my top list for favorites (I once cried for somewhere around 4-6 hours to that song b/c it reminds of someone I will always cherish with the purest supernatural love despite his demons; I knew Michaels' gesture was provoked by God and Him alone b/c He alone knows how special and meaningful that song is to me. where ever you are Michael, Thank you from the bottom of my heart, that meant a lot to me. Her voice was like red velvet cake; sweet and velvety. She sounds wonderful on the CD but so much better in person. Every song I wanted to hear, she sang. I love all of her songs but I love "Love is on its' way" by far. The intimacy and closeness she has with Christ and Him alone is unmistakable as well as her concern with doing His will. I know a child of God when I see one through keen discernment. Praise God for His creation, Corrine Bailey Rae.
