
k.d. lang's performance of 'Hallelujah' at Friday night's Olympics opening ceremony was nothing short of breathtaking. One of Leonard Cohen's most notable hits (Matt Morris and Justin Timberlake just covered it last month), lang's version is unlike any other, carried by her unwavering vocals and vast vocal range, with grand piano and string accompaniment.
The Vancouver live edition is featured on her Feb.12th-released EP 'Hallelujah,' available on iTunes. The other two featured versions on the EP are a live version from the 2005 Juno Awards and a new studio version. These latter two versions are also included on the Canadian's Feb. 9th-released two-disc compilation album 'Recollection,' celebrating a 25-year career filled with her greatest hits ('Constant Craving,' 'Miss Chatelaine,' the Hollies' 'The Air That I Breathe' and Neil Young's 'Helpless' among the group). Her collection also comes as a deluxe edition that includes a third disc of rarities and unreleased tracks, as well as a DVD of music videos and live footage.
