David Sanborn 'Only Everything' -- New Song

David Sanborn Only Everything

'Only Everything' is the title track off David Sanborn's January-released album, a continuation of 2008's 'Here & Gone.' Both albums are inspired by Ray Charles, Charles' saxophone sidemen David "Fathead" Newman and Hank Crawford's soulful sound, evident in the mid-tempo title track which clocks at 8:00 minutes. With the famous producer Phil Ramone helming the project, 'Only Everything' (the album as well as the title track) primarily showcase the chemistry between Sanborn, drummer Steve Gadd and Joey DeFrancesco, who plays the Hammond B-3 organ as a jazz instrument.

Sanborn is one of the great saxophonists, covering a variety of jazz, funk, soul, pop, and blues rock; but when it comes to playing music, Sanborn plainly tells Spinner: "I tend to play in way that feels natural to me. To me that's authentic for myself. I play by where I'm led by some sense of where I feel I'm supposed to be. I don't spend a lot of time thinking about why I'm supposed to do things -- it's really a matter of 'This feels right to do.'"
