'Rocket Skates' is Deftones' new song off their sixth studio album 'Diamond Eyes,' out in stores May 18. First performed at the Memorial Coliseum in Portland, Oregon back in October, the song features Stephen Carpenter's heavy guitar riffing carried by the powerful vocals of Chino Moreno who shrieks: "GUNS! RAZORS! KNIVES! / You're red soaking wet / I'm right next to you."
'Diamond Eyes' is the new album recorded in place of the unreleased 'Eros' (apparently it just didn't represent the band artistically) and the first album without Deftones bassist Chi Cheng, who is still in a coma following a November 2008 car accident. Sergio Vega, who has previously played with Quicksand and is a good friend of Cheng's and the band, is the current bassist for the band's forthcoming album.
Producer Nick Raskulinecz (who has worked with Foo Fighters, Velvet Revolver and Stone Sour) helmed the project. Go to AOL Radio's New Rock First station to hear the new track.
