Tegan & Sara 'The Alligator LP' -- New Album

'Alligator' is the track and second single off 2009's critically acclaimed 'Sainthood' that Tegan & Sara chose to remix -- well, 17 versions to be exact -- into a record entitled 'The Alligator LP.' Although the well-liked original track features the clunky piano-driven beats and lead vocals by Sara (with Tegan's harmonized vocals), the remix versions take some or all of those elements and incorporate distinctive styles by the likes of Passion Pit, Toro Y Moi, Morgan Page and Four Tet, among many others.

Available digitally via iTunes March 30, the LP's highlights include, well, honestly, all of them! But to begin, Passion Pit's electro, disco fever version with a less frequent, clap-like percussion as well as the tamer synth-driven track with chillwave effects helmed by Toro Y Moi are recommended downloads. Four Tet took the 2:44 minute song and expanded it well over five minutes, emphasizing on digital ostinato synth beats, to the point were, you don't even realize Sara's absent vocals until they come in at 1:45. And VHS or Beta turn the single into a neu-disco track using cut-off and phaser effects with synth-like filters.
