New Unreleased Beatles Song Leaks on Web

Get excited Beatles fans — there is a new, previously unreleased song amidst us — a track that is excluded from the Fab Four’s twelve album discography. Featuring iconic blues musician Billy Preston on the keyboard, the untitled song was recorded in the Apple Studios and was originally helmed under producer Glyn Johns for the shelved ‘Get Back’ album.

When the project was turned over to producer Phil Spector, it apparently didn’t make the cut for the retitled ‘Let It Be.’ And like the track ‘Watching Rainbows,’ this new unreleased song was not featured on the album’s paired documentary film.

The track has remained undiscovered until it leaked on the Internet today, where fans are now hearing it for the first time on April 1, 2010.

The song caps in at only 1:17, giving us a fragment of what could have been another great Preston/ Beatles collaboration. (Preston played the organ on ‘Let It Be,’ the Fender Rhodes electric piano on ‘Don’t Let Me Down’ as well as ‘Get Back.’)

With yesterday’s news of a failed attempt to license the Beatles’ recorded-music catalog in the states, we wonder what soon-to-be bankrupt EMI and Universal’s discussion will be over what to do with this leaked song if anything. Check out the track below.
