If there's one festival that can be credited with launching the careers of a bunch of singer-songwriter superstars, it's the Newport Folk Festival. The annual event gave both Joan Baez and Bob Dylan national exposure, helping jumpstart their careers. Founded in 1959, the festival ran annually until the '60s, when it struggled and went absent for a few years. However, since 1985 it that gone on every year without a hitch. Big names that have performed in the past include Lyle Lovett, Suzanne Vega, Linda Ronstadt and Jimmy Buffett.
This year, the even runs July 30-August 1 at the International Tennis Hall of Fame at the Newport Casino in Newport, Rhode Island. One-day adult tickets are $69 ($75 if bought the weekend-of), and a limited number of two-day tickets are available for $125. Check out the 2010 full lineup after the jump!
