As Chicago based heavy metal group Disturbed embarks on their 10th year together, they've already made grand plans to commemorate the anniversary with both a special DVD release, as well as a brand new 2010 album. The DVD, titled 'Decade of Disturbed,' was released on March 23, and, as Noisecreep reported last month, features live concert footage of the band throughout their storied career. As well-received as 'Decade of Disturbed' has been, the main course for die-hard Disturbed fans is undoubtedly the group's fifth studio album, and their long-awaited follow up to 2008's Grammy nominated 'Indestructible.'
On February 8, Blabbermouth reported that the group had finally entered their Chicago studio to begin work on their new 2010 album. After spending about a year penning new songs, they certainly didn't do so unprepared. According to guitarist Dan Donegan, Disturbed entered the studio with 15 to 18 songs already under their belt, in an effort to hit the ground running.
As he told the Pulse of Radio, "We never enter the studio unless we feel like, right now, if these are the songs we record, that we would have an album that we're proud of and we're excited about. And we put everything under the microscope and examine it the best we can to make sure that we're prepared. We don't like going in there wasting time. We go in there to work, and to try to make the best album we can."
As of yet, there hasn't been any official release date for the still-untitled album, nor has the group confirmed which tracks will be featured on the new record. It seems, though, that the band is tentatively aiming to drop the album sometime this summer. In an interview with SonicExcess, lead singer David Draiman said that fans should expect a darker, more aggressive and "hard-hitting" sound on the new 2010 album, and that some may find it more similar to their 2002 album, 'Believe,' which debuted at No.1 on the Billboard 200.
