Few movie franchises boast the kind of rabid fanbase and garner instant media attention than the Twilight Saga films have. And their pairing soundtracks -- such as the upcoming new soundtrack for the third installment of the film series 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' -- attract just as much hype, exposing both notable indie bands as well as smaller acts that become well-known after their releases. Based on the wild success of last year's soundtrack for 'The Twilight Saga: New Moon', we should also prepare ourselves for another stellar new 2010 soundtrack. As you may recall, the New Moon soundtrack featured the likes of Thom Yorke, Muse and Editors, among others. While there hasn't been any officially confirmed track listing, rumors have been swirling for a few months about a new slate of potential big name artists that could contribute.
Early this month, EntertainmentWise reported that star actor Robert Pattison had asked fellow heartthrob Justin Bieber to accompany him on a duet performance of the song 'Once Bitten,' which was penned by Usher specifically for the film. Just last week, Gigwise reported that Florence Welch (AKA Florence and the Machine) has expressed interest in contributing to the new 2010 soundtrack. Twilight's own Jackson Rathbone has also been rumored to appear on the soundtrack alongside his band 100 Monkeys, but as he told TMC recently, it's still very much in the air.
One name that definitely won't be on the upcoming Twilight soundtrack, though, is Muse. As ReelEmpire reports, the group had prepared a love song specifically for the new vampire movie, although it now appears that it's been dropped from the list. "It's the people in the movie business, completely outside of the writers and the creative types, the non-creative types I suppose are the people who are quite hard to deal with in Hollywood, so it didn't work out," Muse's Dominic Howard said. Muse does, however, plan on using the track as part of their new album.
Details may be hazy as of right now, but according to Amazon, Twilight's new 2010 soundtrack should be available for purchase on June 8, while the third installment in the film series hits theaters on June 30. If you're interested in pre-ordering a copy yourself, go here.
