Carole King and James Taylor's 2007 reunion performance live at L.A.'s Troubadour highlighted several monumental milestones. Notably, it was the duo's first venue performance together since their 1970 performance at the same venue; but it also marked the first time they were able to perform together on 1971's 'You've Got a Friend.'Although 'You've Got a Friend' was originally written and performed by King (with Taylor on acoustic guitar) off her 1971 'Tapestry,' it became widely popular due to Taylor's cover, which shot to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 (and was featured on his 1971 effort 'Mud Slide Slim and the Blue Horizon'). Plus, the two both won Grammy Awards the following year: Taylor -- Best Male Pop Vocal Performance and King -- Song of the Year.
'Live at the Troubadour' live album -- covering a three-night, six-show run to celebrate the venue's 50th anniversary -- also featured members of their renowned original band The Section (with guitarist Danny Kortchmar, bassist Leland Sklar and drummer Russell Kunkel) performing solo hits such as King's 'So Far Away' and 'It's Too Late,' as well as Taylor's 'Carolina in My Mind' and 'Fire and Rain,' among many others.
The duo -- along with their bandmates -- are currently on their Troubadour Reunion tour -- the U.S. dates kicking off May 7 in Portland and running through July 20 in Anaheim, Calif.
The two-disc CD/DVD of 2007's 'Live at the Troubadour' is available May 4, but you can check out 'You've Got a Friend' here on AOL Radio's Songwriters station.

1. I clicked the link "... you can check out 'You've Got a Friend' here on AOL Radio's Songwriters station" and got some completely different song.
Annoying waste of time. I'm glad I didn't send the link to my friend.
