Nicki Minaj -- 2010 New Album Preview

After rising to fame on the strength of a few stellar mixtapes and high-profile collaborations Queens, New York native Nicki Minaj is finally ready to release a new album in 2010. Following the release of her 2009 mixtape 'Beam Me Up Scotty' and on the heels of her scene-stealing cameos in singles from Lil Wayne and Mariah Carey, expectations for Nicki Minaj's studio debut are sky high.

Although she's so far made her name thanks to her appearances alongside big names in hip-hop, Minaj says we should also expect a few lower-profile artists to pop up on her new album. As she told Rap-Up, "On my debut, I worked with Sean Garrett. And probably Swizz Beatz, he's gonna send me something. [But] I like to work with unknown producers as well, so I accept beats from everybody." No official release date has been announced for the new album, but most are expecting it to drop sometime this fall.

As we reported yesterday, Minaj has already released the first official single off the new album, titled 'Massive Attack,' which features co-producer Sean Garrett. The rest of the new album, however, remains a definite work-in-progress, as Minaj herself has admitted that she has yet to pen any more tracks for the record. One thing, though, is certain: it will be different. According to TheBoombox, Minaj recently declared that her previous work "doesn't really reflect me anymore," and added that she's determined to get started on "an entirely new body of work."

And she's definitely not gonna rush the creative process. As she told IndustryFinest, "I'm a perfectionist, and I want this buzz to really meet/surpass everyone's expectation of the people that support me. You got so many people that don't support you, but to the ones that do, they look at me and they see big things, and I don't wanna disappoint them. To say I don't have pressure, I'd be lying. I do. I feel it all the time. I feel like I have to make this a masterpiece."
