50 Cent -- 2010 New Album Preview

50 CentJust a few months after the release of his 2009 album 'Before I Self Destruct,' 50 Cent has wasted no time in getting back into the studio to put together an entirely new 2010 album, set for release later this year. Rumblings about 50's new album began back in May of 2009, when the rapper told MTV about his plans to release two albums in one year: 'Before I Self Destruct' and the untitled album that just pushed back to this year.

The album title, 'Black Magic,' was announced a few months later, and although he hasn't unveiled an official drop date for the new album, 50 Cent says he's aiming for a summer release.

Whereas 'Self Destruct' signaled a return to the gritty, gangsta rap that the artist has become known for, his forthcoming album, according to early reports, will sound decidedly different. As HipHopDX reports, 50 acknowledges that he was artistically influenced by the European dance music he heard while on tour across the continent this year, and claims to have already written three songs during his European swing alone.

Different as the sound may be, though, 50 Cent insists that it will remain grounded in hip hop principles, and in his naturally eclectic tastes. "It has a totally different vibe," 50 Cent told MTV. "I won't allow myself to be placed in a box when I can only do one style or one kind of music. They should expect the unexpected on this project. It's good. If they can understand how I enjoy different genres of music and different styles; for the people who have various tastes in music, they'll really like it."
