'Can't Be Tamed' is Miley Cyrus' first single and title track off her upcoming album, in stores June 22. The synth-driven, auto-tuned track, penned by Tim James and Antonina Armato, has Miley crooning: "If your gonna be my man, understand I can't be tamed." Although James and Armato wrote 'Seven Things' and 'See You Again,' (both on 'Breakout,' Cyrus first album sans the 'Hannah Montana' persona), the riskay and Christina Aguilera-sounding 'Can't Be Tamed' is a far cry from her previous bubblegum pop sound, even when compared to the transitional 'Party in the U.S.A.'
Her label describes the tracks as "self-empowering song in which Miley asserts that she has to stay true to herself in relationships." The song's music video -- directed by MTV Award-winning Robert Hales (Justin Timberlake, Gnarls Barkley, Kings of Leon) -- is edgier in comparison to her previous videos and is expected to premiere online May 4, 2010.
The upcoming album will be released both as CD as well as a two-disc CD/DVD concert release, which features previously-unreleased footage from Miley's sold-out worldwide Miley World tour. The single will be available on iTunes May 18, but you can hear the track now on AOL Radio's Fresh 40 station.
