'American Idol''s Season 9 winner Lee DeWyze rocked U2's 'Beautiful Day' on the first night of the finale, which included string instrumentation but also his own vocal style. Now deemed his first single -- which will be available via iTunes May 28 -- the Grammy Award-winning track was originally featured on U2's critically-acclaimed 2000 album 'All That You Can't Leave Behind,' which brought the quartet back to rock after dabbling with alternative and dance music in the '90s.
DeWyze performed the song again after being crowned this year's winner and delivering an emotional acceptance speech: "Thank you guys so much for everything. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you guys so much. Everybody. I can't believe this. I love you guys. This is amazing. Crystal, I love you ... I'm just happy, man. I'm so happy right now. I've never been happier in my life."
