Gleeks unite! 'Glee: The Music - Journey to Regionals,' an EP containing six songs from the season one finale, is set to release Tuesday, June 8 -- the same day the episode will air. Appropriately titled 'Journey,' the season finale has the kids from New Directions competing in the regionals, and in front of four celebrities: recording stars Olivia Newton-John and Josh Groban, local news anchor Rod Remington, and cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester, who once again threatens to block the group's path to victory.
Even though Olivia Newton-John and Josh Groban make an appearance, oddly enough, none of their material make it on the episode. The series producers should've tried to land Journey, as covers of 'Faithfully,' 'Don't Stop Believin' and a mash-up of 'Any Way You Want It' and 'Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin,'' all make it in the episode, and make up the entire first half of the EP.
Cast-member interpretations of Queen's 'Bohemian Rhapsody,' Scottish '60s singing star Lulu's 'To Sir, With Love' and Judy Garland's 1939 'Wizard of Oz' staple, 'Over the Rainbow' are also represented on both the episode and extended player. 'Glee: The Music - Journey to Regionals' completes a four-part series of music released from the show, on the heels of May 18's, 'Glee: The Music, Volume 3 Showstoppers.'
But as good as this EP is, most Gleeks will tell you it won't curb the pain of going through an entire summer without their favorite high school musical television show, which won't return until September.
