'El Dorado' is Iron Maiden's first single off the heavy metal icons' forthcoming album 'The Final Frontier,' in stores Aug. 17. The new album will be the 15th for the British legends, who recently celebrated the 30th anniversary of their debut album's release. Nearly seven minutes long, 'El Dorado' is built on a powerful, melodic bass line and rough-edged, somewhat simplified guitar riffs that hark back to the band's earlier work.
And the lyrics continue to explore Maiden's fascination with mythology, in this case a search for South America's famed "Lost City of Gold": "El Dorado step this way / Take a ticket for the ride / El Dorado streets of gold / See the ship it's oversold / You've got one last chance to try."
While recording the 'The Final Frontier,' the band nodded to their long history by returning to the same Bahamas studio where they created classic Maiden albums such as 'Piece of Mind' and 'Powerslave.'
You can prepare for Iron Maiden's upcoming world tour, which begins on June 9 in Dallas, Texas, by listening to 'El Dorado' on AOL Radio's Metal Mosh Pit station.
