Phil Collins' 'Going Back,' is a new song that does just what it says. The title-track off of Collins' upcoming release, features the veteran musician revisiting some of the Motown and soul-influenced musical tropes that have shaped his storied career. The song, originally written by Carole King and Gerry Goffin, is a true classic, and has been covered by everyone from the Byrds to Diana Ross. And, in Collins' hands, it takes on yet another life. Collins' record, 'Going Back,' is expected to be out in Sept. 28, and will mark the eight-time Grammy-winning singer's first new studio album in eight years. Collins, who was among this year's class of inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, delves into his artistic past on his new album, and covers a wealth of classic hits that have made him the musician he is today. As he does with his new song, Collins reminds us that sometimes, going back to where it all began is just the thing we need to help understand what we've become.
