'Beg Steal or Borrow' is a recent song from Ray LaMontagne and his new backing band, the Pariah Dogs. It is the first taste of their forthcoming album 'God Willin' & the Creek Don't Rise,' which will be released later this summer. The record jumps right out of the gate with a gentle but foot-stomping beat, which drives the song forward as acoustic and pedal steel guitars blend to give the music a distinct country feel.
Ray sings in an uncharacteristically restrained, but still husky, voice as he advises a restless youth who feels he has outgrown his home town: "Young man full of big plans and thinking about tomorrow / Young man going to make a stand / You beg you steal you borrow."
'God Willin' & the Creek Don't Rise' will be available on Aug. 17. Two days before that, Ray and his band will embark on a nationwide co-headlining tour with David Grey. You don't have to wait that long to listen to 'Beg Steal or Borrow,' just head over to AOL Radio's Songwriters station.
