Eminem and Jay-Z Play Outdoor NYC Show for Letterman

Eminem And Jzy-ZHip-hop's two biggest stars, Eminem and Jay-Z, played a three song mini-concert Monday evening (June 21) on the rooftop of the Ed Sullivan theater, home to The Late Show with David Letterman. The performance will air on Letterman's show tomorrow, Friday June 25.

According to the the New York Times, Jay-Z was going to perform, unannounced, from the marquee of the theater, which would have been visible to the crowds in Times Square. However, after the near-riots caused by a canceled Drake concert recently, the city denied him and the show the permits.

Undaunted, Jay-Z recruited Eminem, currently promoting his new album 'Recovery,' and moved the concert to the roof of the building, which is out of the city's jurisdiction. The dynamic duo performed Eminem's current single 'Not Afraid,' 'On to the Next One' from Jay-Z's 'Blueprint 3' record, and 'Renegade,' their duet from the first 'Blueprint' album.

The set served as a preview for the pair of concerts the stars will co-headline at the baseball stadiums of their respective hometowns later this summer. Reportedly, Eminem also taped a special "Top 10" list for Friday's 'Late Night' episode.
