Michael Jackson Remembered on the One Year Anniversary of his Death

Michael JacksonOn the one-year anniversary of Michael Jackson's tragic death, AOL remembers the King of Pop, his influence on others and his accomplishments in redefining pop music.

"If you cut through all the life [stuff] and just watch what he does, he had a tremendous power," states Nelson George, author of ''Thriller: The Musical Life of Michael Jackson.' "He had a joy, an innocence, a commitment to performance that was really unique."

George was one of few music affiliates recently interviewed by Spinner's James Sullivan about the King of Pop.

Others, such as Blink-182's Mark Hoppus, reflect on the day they found out, and the emotional effect it had on them.

While Jackson's hometown residents in Gary, Ind. hold a candlelight vigil today, you can commemorate the singer by listening some of his best work, and read about his hit songs and notable albums.
