'Back From Cali' is the third single from legendary guitarist and top hat aficionado Slash's 2009 self-titled solo album. The former Guns N' Roses and Velvet Revolver axeman is joined by Alter Bridge singer Myles Kennedy on the track. Slash's distinctive guitar tone is somewhat subdued on the spare blues introduction to the song, but it quickly builds up to a more familiar, anthemic 'Civil War' type territory, as an exhausted Kennedy cries out for help from the city of angels: "I'm tired and broken and I lost my way / You'll have to carry me back to where I belong / You'll have to carry me back from Cali."
'Slash,' the album, features a variety of all-star guest vocalists each taking over the microphone for one track. Reportedly, Slash was so impressed by Myles' performance on 'Starlight' that he quickly wrote 'Back From Cali' for him to sing as well. This also led to Kennedy serving as the frontman for Slash's current world tour.
Slash and his solo band are currently on tour overseas, and will hit the US in August. You can listen to 'Back from Cali' and other new songs from Slash's album on AOL Radio's Hard Rock station.
