'Freak' is the first song from the Smashing Pumpkins' second volume of their still in-progress project 'Teargarden by Kaleidyscope.' In a unique strategy, the album is being released as 11 separate EPs, in piecemeal fashionDespite the band's much publicized new lineup, the low, distorted guitar riff that opens 'Freak' is instantly recognizable as the work of head Pumpkin Billy Corgan. He spends much of the mid-tempo rock song railing against the damage done to the planet and warning us to be careful what we wish for: 'Life is not a dream when you can't wake up from the dream you wanted.'
Smashing Pumpkins will spend July touring across the States, and releasing new songs throughout the year. You can listen to 'Freak' today on AOL Radio's New Alternative First station.
