As we say goodbye to more and more of our favorite dancers, the seventh season of 'So You Think You Dance Dance' recaps each of the candidate's memorable cameos while Brooklyn-based Black Gold's 'Shine' plays as the official 'exit song.'
Carried by a poppy, but not overproduced, melodic chorus and punchy percussion tempos, 'Shine' -- off the group's 2009 debut album 'Rush' -- encapsulates the act of testing one's faith in themselves, and in others.
"The heart of the song is about a time in a person's life when his or her faith is being tested in the most challenging way they've ever known," Black Gold drummer, guitarist and vocalist Than Luu tells Spinner. "In that moment, you pray for something or someone so bad that you'd be crushed if you were let down and reborn if you were not."
The song's message is perfect for the competitive dance reality show, where candidates -- such as 26-year-old Alexie Agdeppa who was eliminated June 17 -- try to achieve their dream. Check out the song below, as featured in Agdeppa's exit.
