Eminem sold over 195,000 copies of 'Recovery' to stand head and shoulders above a six-pack of diverse new competitors and notch his fourth straight week atop the Billboard 200 album chart, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
The Detroit-based rapper becomes the first male artist in over two years to spend a full month on top of the chart, and he outsells the second-highest selling album this week by nearly a two-to-one margin.
Which is not to diminish the achievements of that No. 2 debut, which belongs to alt-metal pioneers Korn, whose 'Korn III - Remember Who You Are' sold 63,000 copies to record their 10th Top 10 debut with their first new album in nearly three years.
Close on their heels, with sales of 45,000, were Christian pop-rockers Newsboys, who enter at No. 4 with 'Born Again,' their first album to feature DC Talk's Michael Tait as their new lead singer. Sting starts his post-Police reunion life at No. 6 with a tally of 36,000 for 'Symphonicities,' a live album featuring songs from throughout his career re-arranged and recorded along with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
Country newcomer Jerrod Niemann's 'Judge Jerrod & the Hung Jury' rides an aggressive pricing strategy -- and hit single 'Lover, Lover' -- to a No. 7 entry by moving 34,000 records. The album can be found for less than seven dollars at many nationwide chains.
Hard rock supergroup Hellyeah 'Stampede' their way to No. 8 by rounding up 28,000 sales for their second album, and alternative hip-hop headline maker M.I.A. finishes up the new entries with 'Maya' selling 28,000 copies to land at No. 9.
That doesn't leave a lot of room for returning titles, but hip-hop sensation Drake holds tight to the top reaches of the chart, slipping just one spot to No. 3 by moving another 50,000 copies of his full-length debut 'Thank Me Later.'
Tween superstar Justin Bieber's 'My World 2.0,' also hangs tough at No. 5 by moving 41,000 records, and the 'Twilight Saga: Eclipse' soundtrack rounds out the Top 10 with 28,000 sales.
