R&B newcomer Dondria turns the tables on the dating scene -- with help from vocalist Johnta Austin -- with her new song 'Shawty Was Up.'
As the song's confident, tick-tock rhythm struts by, Dondria lets would-be suitors know she doesn't need them to take care of her: "I don't need you to by me a drink / Got my own cash and I got my own crew / So tell me what you drink / Baby I'll buy it for you."
The bass throbs along under her sultry lead vocals as Dondria then decides who she's going to take home tonight: "Shawty wus up / Tell me how you want it / Swawty was up / Imma put it on you tonight."
'Shawty Was Up' is the second single off the R&B crooner's debut album 'Dondria vs. Phatffat.' So, who's Phatfatt, you ask? Well it seems we've got a bit of a Beyonce / Sasha Fierce alter-ego thing happening here: "I'm crazy, I love to eat, hence the name Phatffat," says Dondria on her website.
'Dondria vs. Phatffat' will be released on on Aug. 17. You can check out 'Shawty Was Up' right now over at AOL Radio's New R&B First station.
