Demi Lovato 'Can't Back Down' from an urgent, talent contest-related situation over at Camp Rock. The song is the first official single from the soundtrack to 'Camp Rock 2,' which was released on Aug. 10.
The song features a percussion-heavy dance beat with a dash of hard rock guitar underneath, somewhat reminiscent of Janet Jackson's 'Black Cat,' with Lovato urgently conveying the stakes and rallying her friends into action.
What stakes, you ask? Well, in the movie our heroes' summer fun is threatened by the arrival of Camp Star, a flashy competing outfit who draws campers away from their beloved Camp Rock, threatening its very survival. (Apparently, the region can't support two music-themed summer camps.)
There's only one solution: a climactic musical showdown! "We can't back down / There's too much at stake / This is serious / Don't walk away / We can't pretend it's not happening in our own backyard / I'm not confused / Let's win this thing!"
Who will win? Which camp will be allowed to stay open? You'll have to tune in for the premiere of 'Camp Rock 2,' which airs exclusively on the Disney Channel on Sept. 3.
Lovato will spend the summer on tour as the opening act for the Jonas Brothers, her co-stars in the 'Camp Rock' film series. Prepare yourself for the tour and the movie by cranking up 'Can't Back Down' over on AOL Radio's New Kids Pop station.
