The new, and very brief, commercial for Reese's Peanut Butter Cups features the song 'Working for the Weekend' by Loverboy. The song first appeared on the Canadian rockers' 1981 album 'Get Lucky.'
The spot declares that Reese's blend of peanut butter and chocolate is "the best combination since Saturday and Sunday," which naturally leads to the famous keyboard riff of the song's chorus: "Everybody's workin' for the weekend / Everybody wants a new romance."
The song was foremost in a series of early '80s Loverboy hits such as 'Turn Me Loose' and 'Hot Girls in Love.' And now it's practically a requirement that classic rock stations play this number every week when the Friday afternoon drive-time hour rolls around.
Loverboy has remained together for almost 30 years now, and are currently out on tour following their appearance at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. Check out the commercial below, and listen for the song on AOL Radio's Awesome '80s station.
