It's the first song from his modestly titled new album 'Guitar Heaven: The Greatest Guitar Classics of All Time,' which finds Carlos once again collaborating with a wide range of artists, this time focusing on songs from his favorite axe players.
The stately musical backdrop Santana chose for his version of this song features a hip-hop friendly beat and gentle Latin accents, creating a very comfortable environment for Arie's soulful vocal delivery.
She responds with a tender re-interpretation of George Harrison's hopeful plea for peace and understanding: "I look at you all / See the love there that's sleeping / While my guitar gently weeps / I look at you all / Still my guitar gently weeps."
If that's not enough for you, Yo Yo Ma's cello warmly fills in the low end, leaving plenty of room for Santana's always impressive and fiery lead guitar work as the song builds to its finale.
'Guitar Heaven: The Greatest Guitar Classics of All Time' won't be in stores until Sept. 21, so be sure to go to AOL Radio's Lite Rock station to check out 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' today.

While I am sure Carlos will do a good job on this album, I have to ask. Why can't Carlos do an album on his own merits. I am so sick of him doing Carlos with ****** or Carlos with ******. He is trying to stay relevant by having some special friends with him. He says he doesn't treat songs as sacred. You can tell that for sure, Nas reinventing AC/DC, Indie Ink and Yo Yo Ma butchering the Beatles. WTF Carlos you are a guitar god loose the hanger on's and do something on your own. Damn. You are better than that. Be yourself and if your time is up then move over for the next generation. Or maybe you have forgotten who the real Carlos Santana is ?
