As swirling keyboards, distorted guitars and the yodeling -- from classic-rock radio's oddest song, 'Hocus Pocus' by Focus -- all blend together, Cole makes his prediction clear from the start: "B---- I'm about to blow up!"
The college graduate then goes on to explain the rationale behind his risky career choice: "Mama says I should reconsider law school / That means I wear a suit and bend the truth and fail all the folks / Got a degree but what it cost you / You make a good salary just to pay Sally Mae."
Jay-Z signed J. Cole to his Roc Nation label after hearing songs from his first mixtape, 'The Come Up,' and subsequently featured the young rapper on his 'Blueprint 3' album. 2009 brought about a second tape, 'The Warm Up,' followed by 'The Blow Up' in 2010, which also features the track 'Blow Up.' (Are you sensing a theme with these titles?)
'Cole World,' featuring the single 'Who Dat,' will be available everywhere Oct. 16. Be sure to get yourself up to speed first by listening for 'Blow Up' on AOL Radio's New Hip-Hop First station.
