Free Music Tuesday -- Lonely Forest, Janeane Garafalo + More

Hey, hey! Hope everyone had a good Labor Day weekend. Let's get through your (hopefully shorter than usual) workweek with the four new MP3s featured in this week's Free Music Tuesday column. We've got hard rock, a loving ode to the state of Washington and a pop song that's, blessedly, not aimed at mall teens. Plus, we grabbed a special comedy bit from none other than Janeane Garofalo! If you need help getting these onto your computer, check out this easy how-to download an MP3 tutorial.
'I Can't Make You Want Me'
Tim Brantley (Pop Rock)
Isn't it nice when someone comes along with a pop song written for grown-ups? Played on real, un-digitized rock instruments? Well, you're in luck today, as Georgia newcomer Tim Brantley shares a great song about unrequited love that reminds us of the late, great Harry Nilsson.
'Live There'
Lonely Forest, the first band signed to Death Cab for Cutie guitarist Chris Walla's new label, send their home state of Washington a musical love note. All their talk about "miles of tall evergreens" on this elegantly churning mid-tempo song make us want to visit, too.
'Fat Baby'
In her first stand-up special in over 10 years, comedian, actress and political talk-show host Janeane Garofalo hilariously denies that she's cold and heartless just because she doesn't want children. She questions just how much some parents love their own newborns, when they're always trying to get them to take naps.
'Brush With the Devil'
The New Czars (Hard Rock)
The veteran members of the New Czars have collectively performed with a wide range of musical acts, from Pink to Bootsy Collins to Alice Cooper and many more. So it stands to reason that they refuse to be shoehorned into one genre on their debut album 'Doomsday Revolution,' which blends industrial, funk, progressive and pop elements into songs such as the pedal-to-the-floor 'Brush With the Devil.'
