The newly-produced mixes were helmed by Yoko Ono and Jack Douglas, and will appear on a double CD: One with the new digital, stripped-down edition; the other a remastered original of the the Grammy Award-winning record.
"'Double Fantasy' Stripped Down really allows us to focus our attention on John's amazing vocals," Yoko adds. "Technology has advanced so much that, conversely, I wanted to use new techniques to really frame these amazing songs and John's voice as simply as possible. By stripping down some of the instrumentation the power of the songs shines through with an enhanced clarity."
The peppy, piano-laden '(Just Like) Starting Over' was chosen by Lennon as the first single off 'Double Fantasy,' as it represented his five-year hiatus from the music industry to raise his son Sean.
'Double Fantasy' is just one of eight remastered albums that will be released Oct. 5 to coincide with the 'Gimme Some Truth' campaign and commemorate the Lennon's 70th birthday (which is Oct. 9).
