True to its name, West's new song describes just how good a Friday can be when you live the high life that Kanye and his crew experience every single day. Sampling Biz Markie's 1989 single, 'Just a Friend,' the song has Kanye announcing to his "party people" fan base that they're "now in the place to be," effectively setting the feel-good tone that pervades the rest of the track.
As the song's laid-back, old-school groove rolls on, West drops effortless rhyme after effortless rhyme, while rappers Common, Kid Cudi, Pusha T, Big Sean and Charlie Wilson add their own personal ingredients to Kanye's stew of hip-hop goodness. The song may describe what West considers to be a "good" Friday, but to us, it simply sounds great.
'Good Friday' is the latest installation of Kanye's ongoing 'G.O.O.D Friday' program, in which the artist releases a brand new track every Friday, from now until Christmas.
