30 Seconds to Mars, 'Closer to the Edge' -- New Song

Jared Leto on Guitar 30 Seconds to Mars
'Closer to the Edge' is the third single from 'This Is War,' the third full-length album from multi-platinum rock band 30 Seconds to Mars. The latest single follows 'Kings & Queens' and the title track to the album, which has dominated airwaves around the world since its release in December of 2009.

Yet another arena rock anthem, 'Closer to the Edge' features a 'Joshua Tree'-era U2 vibe in the intro and a sense of urgency to Jared Leto's croon. One can only assume he is speaking to a jilted ex, with lyrics like "I'm not saying I'm sorry / One day maybe we'll meet again," before a crowd of shouting fans accompany him for a chorus of, "No, No, No, No!"

Since the release of 'This Is War' last December, 30STM have been on the road touring the world in support of the release, visiting 89 cities in 27 countries where they have played in front of over 1.3 million ecstatic fans. The first two singles from the album were mainstays on the US radio charts, causing there to be high expectations for 'Closer to the Edge.' Gorillaz, 'On Melancholy Hill' -- New Song

Gorilaz on Melancholy HillTurns out we have Bono to thank for an early release of the new Gorillaz single, 'On Melancholy Hill.'

Just last week it was announced that U2 would have to pull out of performing on June 25 at Glastonbury, citing Bono's emergency back surgery as the reason. To fill U2's shoes will be the Gorillaz, who will now be the opening night headliner for the 40th anniversary of the Festival; and to accompany the news, creators Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett have decided to drop the second single from their March 9 release, 'Plastic Beach.'

On oddly-uplifting number, 'On Melancholy Hill' reflects on both a fate of apocalyptic proportions and the consoling love of a special someone you could spend that fate with. This duality plays out well in the composition; never dipping below uptempo, the melody has a childish charm to it -- like an '80s sitcom theme that you find innocently fun, but a bit haunting if you really listen to it. The song may be the closest to date Albarn has come to his Blur songwriting on a Gorillaz album, one that fictional band member Murdoc Niccals referred to in the liner notes as, "a genuine pop moment" of the album.

'On Melancholy Hill' is available now on Gorillaz latest release, 'Plastic Beach,' and the band has announced a global video premiere for the new single, slated for June 15. You can listen to the new single on AOL Radio's New Alternative First station.

Chris Young, 'I'm Over You' -- New Song

Chris Young VoicesOn his latest EP, Chris Young covers some of his favorite country music "voices," specifically Keith Whitley for his version of the new single, 'I'm Over You.'

"Everybody knows I'm a huge Keith Whitley fan," Young recently explained to The Boot when covering Whitley's tune. "But this has been on of my favorite Keith Whitley songs for years and years and years... This is like my breakup song."

Coincidentally, 'I'm Over You' was co-written by Tim Nichols, who also helped write Young's previous No. 1 hit, 'The Man I Want to Be.' 'I'm Over You' is one of three songs off Young's all-acoustic EP, appropriately titled 'Voices.' The other two are Vern Gosdin's 'Chiseled in Stone' and John Anderson's 'Swingin'.'

'I'm Over You' is currently available on the 'Voices' EP -- exclusively on iTunes -- and can be heard on AOL Radio's New Country First station.

'Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time' Soundtrack -- New Album

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time SoundtrackThe original soundtrack for 'Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time' is almost as hot as Jake Gyllenhaal and Gemma Arterton. Available everywhere May 25, the film's score features the work of one of Hollywood's most sought after composers, and multiple Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette.

The Canadian-born Morissette performs the movie's end credit song 'I Remain,' which she co-wrote with Mike Elizondo (Dr. Dre, Eminem, Maroon 5, Mary J. Blige) -- who also produced the track. On penning the track with Elizondo, Morissette said it was "an honor to write from the voice of an empowered princess about a love that empowers them both to new heights, healing and consciousness. The song wrote itself and this story was the ultimate muse." The duo previously worked together on the soundtrack for 'The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian' -- a film that also shares it's composer Harry Gregson-Williams with 'Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.'
