New AOL Radio powered by Slacker: How-To Guide


The new AOL Radio powered by Slacker is now live and below is a quick rundown on how to use basic features to enhance your listening experience.

1) How do I sign up for an account?

After a brief trial period, there will be a simple, free registration process required for continued free use of the NEW AOL Radio web player and iPhone app. Registering will allow us to remember your favorite stations, songs, custom stations, and for the free products, it will allow us to deliver relevant advertising. Per our privacy policy, we will NOT share your information.


To register, click on the 'Create Account' link on the top righthand corner of the AOL Radio powered by Slacker player. Registration is FREE and only requires an email address, birth year, gender and zip code.

Nickelback, 'Bottoms Up' -- New Song


Nickelback has released 'Bottoms Up,' a new rock-heavy track from their forthcoming album 'Here and Now' due for release November 21, 2011. The song is one of two new tunes made available today to radio -- the second song titled 'When We Stand Together,' a lighter track in the realm of older hits such as 'Gotta Be Somebody' or 'Someday.'

Nickelback, 'When We Stand Together' -- New Song


Nickelback has released 'When We Stand Together,' one of two brand new singles arriving today from their forthcoming album titled 'Here and Now.' The Canadian band's seventh major studio album is due in stores November 21, 2011.

'When We Stand Together' can be heard on our Pop Mix station.

Rihanna, 'We Found Love' -- New Song

Rihanna has released the new single from her forthcoming sixth album due out later this fall. 'We Found Love' is the first single and is produced by Calvin Harris.

Jason Derulo, 'Make It Up as We Go' -- New Song

Warner Bros.

Jason Derulo has released 'Make It Up as We Go,' a new track off his forthcoming album 'Future History' due in stores September 27, 2011. The song follows Derulo's first two singles, 'Don't Wanna Go Home' and 'It Girl,' which is currently climbing the radio charts.

'Make It Up as We Go' is an upbeat party track that has the 21-year-old superstar suggesting spontaneity in a relationship. "Are we together are we not? We don't need a label when things are going so well. After a few drinks I speak my mind and say, 'Let's MAKE IT UP AS WE GO!'" says Derulo.

'Future History' is Derulo's second studio album. As for the title, Derulo tells The Daily Telegraph that he hopes the album will be one that people will remember him for after he's gone. ""I would like my music to live after me... I want my music to be what is in the history books in the future."

Demi Lovato, 'Skyscraper' -- New Song

Hollywood Records

Demi Lovato makes an emotional return to music with her first single 'Skyscraper' from her upcoming album due later this year. 'Skyscraper' was co-written by Toby Gad & Kerli.

'Skyscraper' is the 18-year-old's first single after the young star entered treatment for emotional issues. Before checking herself into rehab, Lovato was the star of The Disney Channel's 'Sonny With a Chance' but has since decided that her focus will now be on her music career.

AOL Radio Announces Partnership with Slacker Radio

Today we are pleased to announce that AOL Radio will be partnering with Slacker Radio for an all-new enhanced radio experience for the web and mobile devices. The new AOL Radio + Slacker partnership will begin this fall.

Our partnership with Slacker will bring you the same great AOL Radio free music programming but with fewer ads and new personalization features. AOL Radio's 250+ stations will continue to be programmed by our expert music directors and we'll also be adding ABC News and ESPN Radio to our station offering.

In addition to the free player, AOL Radio users will also have the option to subscribe to two premium services: Radio Plus and Premium Radio. See Question 5 in the FAQ below for more information.

We will also be relaunching a new iPhone app at the same time as the web player. Android and iPad apps will be coming shortly afterwards.
