Commercial-free this Christmas and New Years!

It's a holiday tradition here at AOL Radio and we're doing it once again...

On Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve and New Years Day - all of AOL's programmed Music stations (not including the CBS local stations) will be commercial free. Enjoy holiday music or your favorite pop, country, R&B, oldies, etc.. hits with your friends and family without any audio advertisements.

It's our gift to you for listening this year.

Make sure to check out our Christmas Music stations and our Hanukkah station as well. We have a special New Years genre on the Radio player where we recommend Party Hits, Awesome '80s, Classic Disco, Pop Remixes or Top Dance for your New Years party.

Happy holidays.

Station Update: 12/10/08

AOL Radio listeners,

We have removed the following stations - All 2Pac, All Janet Jackson, All Mariah Carey, All Stevie Wonder - from the player. Our rights to these stations have expired and we are working to get these stations back up again in the near future.

Keep reading the blog for future news on these and other stations.

Download the AOL Radio Toolbar!

If you're an avid user of AOL Radio in Internet Explorer or Firefox, then you'll want to check out the new AOL Radio Toolbar we just launched. Now have instant access to AOL Radio or many of your favorite stations, including this year's holiday stations! Simply add your favorite station buttons from the button gallery to your toolbar and you'll be able to pop the AOL Radio player (or that station) instantly wherever you are on the web.

Station Updates: 10/24 - Kidz Christmas & Modern Classical

A few weeks ago, I told you about the Christmas stations that we launched early this year. Today we have one more to add and it's approved for the young ones. Check out Kidz Christmas - a collection of Christmas music including favorites from Sesame Street, the Looney Tunes, The Grinch and more.

Also for those of you who listen to Classical music, you may have noticed that 20th Century is absent from the player. The station isn't gone; it simply has been renamed to Modern Classical. So check out if you haven't gotten the chance.

New player features - station launch & volume consistency

Good news!

We've listened to your comments and are pleased to announce that a new version of the AOL Radio player is now live which contains two features you have asked us for:
  • Launch to Previously Listened to Station - Now when you launch the AOL Radio player from the "Listen Now" button on the Radio Guide main page, you will be taken to the last station you previously listened to. You will no longer be taken to a random station when you click on the "Listen Now" button and thus, no more annoying pop music if you don't want it!
  • More Consistent Volume Across Songs and Ads - The volume level across ads and songs playing on the stations will now be at a more consistent level.
We are continuing to make improvements to the player so keep tuned to the blog here for more information.

NOTE: If you are not seeing the station launch to your last listened to station, you will thus have to clear your cache in order to get this to work. Click on the link below to find out instructions on how to do this.
