Troubleshooting Tips for AOL Radio

One of the more important items we posted at the old blog were troubleshooting tips for members that encountered problems with the AOL Radio player. So as a recap, let me highlight the common issues found by members and steps that you can take to get AOL Radio working.

As always, please e-mail me at TCinRadioNYC@aol.com with any issues you may encounter. I receive dozens and dozens of e-mail each day, however, so please be patient with my responses, as I try to answer as many as I can individually.

General Tips for All Users

1. AOL Radio powered by CBS Radio runs using the Internet's most common plugin, Flash. Make sure you have the latest version of Adobe Flash installed on your computer. To download Flash or upgrade to the latest version, visit this link at Adobe.com: http://www.adobe.com/go/gntray_dl_getflashplayer.

2. Make sure you have cookies ENABLED on your computer. Your presets and settings are stored as cookies on your computer so not accepting cookies or erasing them would eliminate your preferences and presets.

3. Running multiple memory intensive programs may slow down the song streaming so if you experience load or skipping problems, try closing any unnecessary applications on your computer.

For Narrowband/Dial-Up Users

1. We STRONGLY recommend loading AOL Radio at http://www.aolradio.com on a dialup/narrowband connection a browser such as Internet Explorer, Firefox or Safari. This will significantly improve the amount of time it will take to load the player. Also, please make sure you have the latest version of Flash as well.

2. If you are experiencing sound stuttering, please make sure your player is set to play the Narrowband streams. To do this, click on the "Settings" tab on the bottom and under "Preferred Connection Speed," switch to Narrowband. You will only have to do this once.

Issues that are being addressed in a future release:

1. Inconsistent Volume - We are working to normalize audio that goes across songs and ads so that songs play at a more consistent volume level.

2. Default Station Playback - We are working on making the default station that plays on the player whatever the last station is you listened to.

Again, if you're having issues please continue to visit AOLRadioBlog.com for updates or drop me an e-mail at TCinRadioNYC@aol.com.
