Mariah Carey holds the record for the most chart-topping singles by a solo artist, and most recently hit the top spot in 2008 with 'Touch My Body.' 'Almost Home' is her first single since 'Triumphant' and fans will be pleased to hear Carey's strong vocals come to life again. Although the song is not atypical of a Disney movie track, the song could easily fit with Carey's best music of the 1990's. The single is pieced together by producer Stargate and features catchy, synth beats. The upbeat rhythms successfully allow for Carey to stand out as she overpowers the song, especially towards the end with an emotionally-charged and powerful voice. It is possible her voice might help her reach the top of the charts again with this inspirational track. She sings "When you let your heart be the compass you won't get lost, not if you trust it."
Mariah Carey is scheduled to release her 14th studio album next month. She has stated that the album will feature collaborations with a lot of her favorite people. For now fans can hear 'Almost Home' on AOL Radio's New Pop First.
