The Offspring is back with a new single titled 'Days Go By,' the first single from their forthcoming album of the same name. It's been four years since The Offspring gave us 'Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace' which spawned hits like 'Hammerhead' and 'You're Gonna Go Far, Kid.' The formula for The Offspring hasn't changed much from their straight forward American power punk. With their edgy guitars and massive hooks, The Offspring is ready to unload some more west coast angst on the masses.

Writing for the new album began in 2009 while the band was on tour supporting 'Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace.' The band hinted several times over the past few years that the album would be coming out soon but was delayed several times since 2010 in order for the band to complete writing. With the release of the first single, The Offspring has announced that the album will finally be available for sale June 26, 2012.

'Symphony Soldier' was self-funded by the band after they left Fueled by Ramen/Decaydance Records and has received solid reviews from both the Alternative and Pop music world.

'La La' is a sugary pop-rock track about falling in love at first sight, with lyrics such as, "You're like a song / A beautiful symphony to my eyes" paired with "You make me wanna lose my voice / I just wanna get you sideways." Maroon 5 has released the first single 'Payphone' off their forthcoming album 'Overexposed,' which will go on sale June 26th. The band performed the song for the first time during last night's taping of NBC's 'The Voice.' Maroon 5 collaborated with rapper Wiz Khalifa for the track, who appears on one version of the song.

After their previous album 'Hands All Over' had moderate success in terms of radio airplay, the band got together to release 'Moves Like Jagger,' the dance-friendly tune which ended up becoming one of their biggest hits ever. In contrast, 'Payphone' is one of the band's more mellow singles similar to 'She Will Be Loved' and 'Won't Go Home Without You.' The song's lyrics tell of a love gone wrong, proclaiming "If happy ever after did exist / I would still be holding you like this And all those fairy tales are full of it / One more stupid love song I'll be safe."

Linkin Park has released the first single titled 'Burn it Down' off their forthcoming fifth studio album 'Living Things.' The band promoted the song's release today by releasing snippets of the song on their official website linkinpark.com through a game in which fans had to play to unlock.

The song has a lighter, electronic sound compared to the band's nu-metal alternative origins. The chorus repeats, "We're building it up / To break it back down / We're building this up / To burn it down / We can't wait / To burn it to the ground." What that "it" is, however, is up to interpretation according to Linkin Park. Band member Mike Shinoda told MTV in an interview that the lyrics could be interpreted as "what we do in pop culture, where we build somebody up to be the next great thing and then we just like to destroy them at the end of the day."

'Living Things' will be released June 26, 2012 but fans can now hear 'Burn it Down' on New Alternative First and New Pop First.

'Rag Doll'
Originally called 'Rag Time' because of its Delta roots, 'Rag Doll' was written by Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, and Jim Vallance. It's been nearly two years since we have heard new music from Civil Twilight, who last released 'Teardrop' in 2010. The band calls their sound "a safe haven in a vast musical desert for you to seek refuge."

Civil Twilight's latest effort is best described by the band as a journey through nostalgia. After spending most of 2011 on the road, the band sat down in the creative process to pen an album that would take them through the very same journey they found themselves on less than a year ago. 'Fire Escape' takes listeners on a ride of self-discovery while in the midst of life-altering change. The phrase "fire escape" in the song is a person's chance to jump out of the life road they are on for a chance at a better path.

'Dance Again' marks the third collaboration between JLo and Pitbull after the songs 'Fresh Out the Oven' and last year's wildly successful 'On the Floor.' Taylor Swift gave her New Zealand fans a thrill last Friday night (March 16) when she performed her new single 'Eyes Open' live for the first time. Judging by the Kiwi fans' screams she has another hit on her hands with a signature power ballad from this weekends box office blockbuster The Hunger Games soundtrack. It enforces the theme of the movie, "The world will be watching" with a catchy lyrical echo to "keep your eye-eyes open." Swift has successfully threaded the needle with a song relevant to the 'big picture' and able to stand on its own.

The Hunger Games soundtrack includes the chilling 'Safe & Sound' which Taylor wrote and recorded with The Civil Wars plus a Miranda Lambert song. Why would a sci-fi fantasy future based soundtrack rely so much on country music? District 12, the home of the films heroine, Katniss Everdeen, is the area we now know as the Appalachians. Ethnomusicologists recognize this area as the birthplace of country music. Filmmakers brilliantly chose T Bone Burnett to produce The Hunger Games soundtrack. Burnett had already musically mined the area when he went backward in time for the multi-platinum selling Grammy winning O Brother, Where Art Thou? This time he rolled the clock forward. Burnett's vision was to start with "Appalachian music, 300 years in the future." Burnett nailed it.

This has been a great week for Taylor Swift. 'Eyes Open' was released, The Hunger Games film opens, her last single, 'Ours,' is number one on the Country chart, she played New Zealand for the first time and she topped U2, Adele and Lady Gaga to be named the highest-earning pop artist of 2011 by trade publication Billboard. The 22-year-old earned $35,719,902 in 2011 from a combination of music sales, royalties and touring. With this kind of momentum and infectious songs she could top herself when they add up the numbers for 2012.

Carly Rae Jepsen is getting ready to make a name for herself. After placing third on 'Canadian Idol' in 2007, the British Columbia-born singer has become a rising star in Canada and it was announced this year that she has been signed to Justin Bieber's label. 'Call Me Maybe' is the first single off her second studio album titled 'Curiosity' and is the first song by a Canadian artist to reach the top of the digital charts since Bieber's hit 'Baby.'

The song's lyrics play as a flirty love note to a secret crush. Jepsen starts out by proclaiming, "I trade my soul for a wish / Pennies and dimes for a kiss / I wasn't looking for this." She makes it clear that the boy she's targeting is the object of her affections as, "And all the other boys, try to chase me / But here's my number, so call me, maybe?" Jepsen appears in the music video of the song by trying to win the attention of her neighbor but fails in doing so. A video spoof was posted on Twitter by Big Time Rush member Carlos Pena Jr. which included appearances by Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Ashley Tisdale and Big Time Rush. The spoof video has received over 18 million views, more than the actual music video.

Madonna is continuing her triumphant comeback with her second single titled 'Girl Gone Wild' off her forthcoming album, 'MDNA,' due out in stores March 26th. 'Girl Gone Wild' follows the success of 'Give Me All Your Luvin,' her first top ten single since her 2008 track '4 Minutes.'

Despite having only just been released, 'Girl Gone Wild' has already received buzz when it was revealed in December that the track was produced by superstar DJ/producer Benny Benassi. The up-tempo dance tune was met with some criticism later on. First, rapper 50 Cent tweeted his disappointment in which he felt Interscope Records (the label currently managing 50 Cent and Madonna) was supporting Madonna more than him, as has a similarly titled 'Girls Gone Wild' track set to appear on his next album. Then, 'Girls Gone Wild' creator Joe Francis threatened to sue Madonna over the name if she performed the song during the halftime show of the Super Bowl.

Nevertheless, Madonna is still forging ahead with her beat-heavy and lyrically sex-charged tune that will surely be on DJs' playlists this spring. Listen to Madonna's latest effort on the Top Dance station.
