Top 100 Classic Rock Songs – Part Five of Five

Music has always been considered as an expression in itself and the love for music is known for binding the community together. The music composers have ensured that people get to own a new playlist to suit every mood of the listeners. The music genres can be divided into various categories that include Pop songs, Rock n Roll beats, instrumental music or slow and soft songs. 

Rock n Roll street style music has been loved by partygoers and the ‘Punk’ group of the society for a very long time. The trend of playing music in underground garages started long back in the early 1950s and has now developed as a favorite amongst the crowd. One of the most famous songs by the band, Comfortably Numb is renowned for featuring two guitar solos.

Considered to be Lynyrd Skynyrd’s signature song, Free Bird has managed to hold a consistent position in the list of Greatest Guitar Solos of all time. 

8. Another Brick in the Wall, part 2 – Pink Floyd

A protest song against rigid schooling, Another Brick in the Wall was nominated for a Grammy Award and remains to be a favourite amongst the music lovers.

9. Gimme Shelter – The Rolling Stones

The song is the opening track of the 1969 album ‘Let it Bleed’ and critics believe that the band has “never done anything better” when asked for a review of the song.

The song released to mixed reviews where some critics believed that the band could have done better while the others have hailed it be one of the greatest albums of all times.

After almost 40 years of its launch, the song managed to stake a claim over a position in the list of Greatest Songs of All Times.

13. Time – Pink Floyd

This song speaks about the passage of time and is renowned for including the introductory passage of chiming clocks and ringing alarms. 

14. Kashmir – Led Zeppelin

The song is believed to be very progressive and was a staple of the band for several years during concert performances. 

15. Simple Man – Lynyrd Skynyrd

The song has been a favourite since its launch and soon became the 3rd best selling digital song by Lynyrd Skynyrd.

16. Paint it Black – The Rolling Stones

The song still remains to be influential because it was the first hit song featuring a Sitar, particularly in the UK. 

17. For What it’s Worth – Buffalo Springfield

Often considered an anti-war song, For What it’s Worth became a well-known song preferred during protests.

It features the story of a life that’s gone wrong and is considered to be the first folk-rock hit music. 

19. Sweet Emotion – Aerosmith

This song can be very well considered as the reason behind the success of the band and resulted in a string of pop hits. 

20. More than a Feeling – Boston

More than a Feeling was the lead single track of the debut album by the band and can very well be considered as a classic staple even after a period of 45 years now.
