Plastic Show Episode 3
Intro: The Exorcist
(Mumbling through static)
A bit more to the left....
OK BOYS AND GIRLS!! WE'RE BACK
BACK IN THE SACK ON PLASTIC BEACH
READY TO PUMP SOME MORE POISON INTO THE ATMOSPHERE
Dear Lord...has it been a week already? Has it? Oh time flies, doesn't it? Mmmm
Cor you know, it seems like only yesterday I was sitting here, spinning my 'discs of shame' for you all.
So Just to remind you all
This is me 'Murdoc Niccals'
I'm Bass-player of the world-storming band
AND THIS IS IT!!!
THE RETURN OF GORILLAZ!!
AFTER three LOOOOOONNNNG YEARS.
Oh dear oh dear, that took a lot out of me that,
Are you excited?
Well. I'm certainly aroused.
I got a bit of a semi truth be known
I'm stuck out here. I'm just stuck Point NEMO.
The Stinking plastic Dump
Just me and Captain Morgan here to guide us through this long dark night of the soul
Jammed in my little lighthouse
On my own Tracey Island
Hosting my own stupid little lonely radio show
And tonight yeah on Episode 3
I'm debuting some more killer NEW Gorilllaz Tunes
Well show some enthusiasm,
What's the matter with you?
Come with uncle Murdy
Take my hand
Let me lead you through the forest of uncertainty
You know what I need more rum, hang on a sec
Mmmmm, oh that's a good batch that
I'm been rummaging around looking for something special to lay on you cats all week and whats happened is I came across this little number...
This is incredible!
I'm goanna kick off this show with this brand new Gorillaz tune...
Check out this little baby....It's called 'Stink Fish' and its...
New Gorillaz Track
Oh Man there you go! That'll clear the wax out your lugholes
You know its Murdoc Niccals here and im on Point Nemo, broadcasting to you from the stinking plastic beach, that I now have to reside on but
It keeps me out of trouble, you know doing the little radio show
Thanks for tuning in
I just been thinking, you know I said that track was called 'Stink Fish' I've had little think about this and I cant really call that track 'Stink Fish'
It didn't really, there's nothing really stink fishy about it
Was there really? That Gorillaz track
So I just had another thought
I'm definitely, I'm calling it 'Pepper Larch'
Yeah so that's a track called 'Pepper Larch'
Ha ha Marvellous init
Now so this is how it is. Right I tell you whats happened, I give you a little back story, Murdy Wurdy's back story
I've been stuck on this island now for 6, 7, 8 months, I don't know, I don't know Hiding myself away.
Away from the Pirates
Away from Record companies
Away from those gonks in my band
Argh. I cant stand them Russell and 2D and Noodle
Oh their mere appendages, you know
I cant I cant be doing it
I just had to get away
It's too much pressure,
The pressure was too much for Murdoc
I was just losing it
I, I, I, I was just, you know
I think I'm gonna have some rum, hang on
Ohhhh that's better
Oh dear o dear, The withdrawals come on quick these days
Ok right so anyway.
I think, yes the time has come to tell you Gorillaz fans what's been happening.
Where I've been and what the hell's going
I'm on Plastic Beach.
The furthest point from any landmass on Earth.
You thought that was Leicester didn't you?
Apparently that used to be the furthest point but its Point Nemo now and most deserted spot on the planet.
So it suits me! Right?! The map reference for all those people out there that need to know
I need to know this, hope you do too its..
(48° 52′ 36″ S, 123° 23′ 36″ W)
So you know where I am yeah? good!
And what exactly is this Plastic Beach Uncle Murdy?
Well erm it's a sort of mythical synthetic palace I've set up?
The clue's in the title really.
It's literally an enormous lump of plastic floating in the sea.
A kind of unnatural collection of ancient and modern debris; It's amazing I tell you; plastic bottles, old tyres, electrical cack and all manner of dumped and damaged goods, held together by the thick sticky gloop of jettisoned tar and oil slicks from a million untold disasters.
Its actually a coagulation of all the world's trash somehow come together to form a new floating putrid landmass. Great we need one of those really
Something that has been growing since man first lobbed a crisp packet into the sea, actually the first guy to do that was a little cave man I think
You know them early crisp packets in Neanderthal times they had them little bag of blue salted.. do you remember? Damn they were amazing; I think it was one of those thrown in
An ecological, historical disaster this plastic beach thing and believe it or not folks it got its own recording studio....that's a bit of luck
And now it's has it's own self-elected presidenty. ME!
Murdoc Nicalls King of the Dump...
When I, when I, when I disappeared after 'Demon Days,' I had to hide out somewhere where no one would find me
And I chose this place.
Its got all the old equipment from Kong Studios had it all shipped over
And started on the new album.
As you do, do you know what I mean
Basically this is THE album to end ALL albums
I'm thinking of calling the album plastic beach or something like that, maybe I don't know, anyway but this album I thought it got to be like
Something that would make 'DEMON DAYS' seem like a warm up act really....
It's actually been three years in the making; I'm letting a couple of tracks trickle out the barrel.
Because there's Tsunami of Gorillaz music on the way.
But all in good time people, all in good time
Right now I'm going to play some other crap out my record collection box.
The Stranglers with..."THE RAVEN"
Track: The Stranglers 'The Raven'
Track: Yeah Yeah Yeahs 'Maps'
There you go a little double bubble there on the old Murdy Wurdy Murdoc
Show, on the ol' point FM
Two tracks in a row without me wittering in between, amazing isn't it, how you can do that technology, er that was 'The Raven' by The Stranglers and The Yeah Yeah Yeah's with 'Maps'
So I'm just going to have some more rum here.
Need to have the rum, got to have the fortification you know
Anyway I'm all out on my own
But its all right I'm ok
as I said you're listening to
POINT NEMO RADIO Stinkfish FM
So while you all get comfy and I strap myself in and tie myself off pull myself off while I'm doing the show, can you imagine it would sound something like this..
No not really im not really doing that. Its very crude isn't it?
I'm gonna kick this next one up with this from Jay Z and Alicia Keys
Dear old Jay Z. He's been a big part of my musical alphabet. He is He is
'Empire State of Mind'
Track: Jay Z 'Empire State of Mind' Feat. Alicia Keys
Track: The Rolling Stones '2000 Light Years from Home'
Oh don't you just love that by my old mate Mick and Keith
Keith and me, were sort of peas in a pod
Were of that ilk, you know, were cats of a feather, you can say that, I just did, it's alright
That's '2000 Light Years From Home'
That's from Satanic majesty's request, which you know to be fair wasn't Sergeant Peppers, was it?
I would have liked it to have been but it was good it was good, I'm not one to criticise
I like that, I like the 'In another land' don't know if you heard that one? Great track well anyway
....I've been tinkering away in my shed for another week. Since we last spoke or since I last talked at you,
Tweaking and well, twonking....away on my keyboards.
Mixing and mastering.
Giving you all some dinky little world exclusives...
To wet your palettes as to what the new black leathery winged Jabberwocky of an album I'm about to unleash on the world!!
I've been zipping round the world, sometimes in disguise,
Other collaborators, our precious...."Gorillaz compardres"
I've chloroformed and had them shipped out.
Once the poison wears off I stick them in the booth and get them to sing
And get them to play
Do whatever really....
But all in the name of music
Good thick sticky Gorillaz music.
And I think it's about time I pulled another little Gorilla tune out of my grotty little rucksack for all you lovely fans to listen to.
I think im treating you quite well, to be honest, I am, you know
Where else you going to get these tracks?? Mmm mmm
Anyway, so here It is folks,
This track's called 'Salmon on Rye with No Title to Go' by Gorillaz
HOLD THE MAYO.
New Gorillaz Track
That's wonderful. "Music to my ears."
I mean, it is really isn't it?
And it going in my ears....
So it's "Music to my ears...."
See what I mean,
I don't have to explain it...
So, as the darkness grows and the tides rises, and time slips endlessly down the plug hole...I think it's only fair that you get a soundtrack to help you on your way.
Help us all ease ours selves into the next Age.
The Age of Aquarius.
The Water Era, folks..
Yep! Its coming!
Costner foresaw this a few years ago and it didn't quite happen then but I think its happening now
I mentioned this last week, but y'know, this Book I've found. Washed up on the shore.
It's called 'THE PLASTIC BEACH.' And when this gets out. Well without being dramatic
I'm reasonably sure that time, all nature and the fabric of reality is going to kind to. ...implode on itself.
I mean in essence. Since the beginning of time, since the BIG BANG itself, all human knowledge, all human life has been racing towards this point. Each leap of knowledge each innovation doubling itself in speed towards this very moment.
The Eternal Now, Infinite now
The last century saw the birth of flight, the invention of television, the Internet, The coming of trousers, the iPod. The Facebook, the Youtube, Twitter.
All that, All that stuff
Getting progressively worse each moment is racing towards the inevitable; mankind is racing towards a conclusion
And that conclusion is become clearer and clearer,
It had to be here, it had to be now,
It had to be now.
It had to be this Plastic Beach
And it had to be us, Gorillaz, who hailed this HORRIBLE TRANSITION POINT NEMO
THE END OF DAYS
THE LITTLE WHIMPER TO FINISH OFF THE BIG BANG!!
(Here's Blondie with
'Island of Lost Souls....') I used to fancy her
Track: Blondie 'Island of Lost Souls'
So to let you know how this new Gorillaz album actually come about.
Very soon ladies and gentlemen I'm going to unleash this behemoth on the world So keep your ears peeled.
This is about to get real.
So in the meantime he's another thing from the record box to keep you cosy....
This one my dear dark listeners is called
'Night of The Vampire' and it's by The MoonTrekkers
Track: The Moontrekkers 'Night of The Vampire'
'Night of the Vampires' the Moontrekkers, have you heard that?
So basically time has caught up with us
Whales to feed
Oceans to travel
I'll be bringing on a special guest next week...A certain singer from a very famous band..
He's been kept in an underwater cavern now for several months, so he should really be gasping for air...
I don't think I'll be giving the game away too much if I say, he's a twerp with blue hair, who somehow got himself into my band because he looks good,
He sings great and has no eyeballs
Next week, I'll be dragging that old bugger 2D into my 'House of horrors' Lighthouse Booth to sit in along side me and shut his face while I play some new Gorillaz tracks.
Fresh cuts from the world's most glorious band.... It eill be lovely fresh Gorillaz cuts
In the meantime this is me Murdoc Niccals, signing off, passing out and waking up 8 hours later in a congealed lump of fag ash and saliva.
The cyanide's kicking in
The Fog is wafting under the door
The rooms beginning to spin.
Everything's going all ...black.
And I can feel my.....trousers....coming....down....
Track: Erika Eigen 'I Want to Marry a Lighthouse Keeper' (Clockwork Orange)
