10 Best Patriotic Songs

52. I don't know who compiled this list but I have only ever heard of the top 2. Practically everyone a country music song. Those are songs most of us don't know, and don't sing. The top 10 should be the ones that everyone sings. God Bless America, American the Beautiful, National Anthem, This Land is Your Land, It's a Grand Ole Flag,America, Born in the USA, Stars & Stripes Forever, God Bless the USA. Those are my 10 songs not necessarily in the order listed.

54. There's a female singer named Ashley Franklin who sings a new song called "Soldier." It just came out and is by Penny Danger on the CD Demo-Licious.
It's a song for the victims and their loved ones from 9/11.

55. This is why Nashville is NOT and never will be "music city." They can't see outside of their little, "pea-picking" heads. Although, thank God, the did leave Charlie Daniels off of this list.

56. Some great, really great songs listed but Some Gave All by Billy Ray Cyrus is also excellent. But a really excellent CD by John Wayne, "America, Why I Love Her" that includes the title song, The People, Face the Flag and The Pledge of Allegiance is really an awesome patriotic tribute.

62. More than a name on a wall, that says it all for me. I have friends on that wall, and my eyes well up every time I hear it. All the others are great as well, and I love them too, but the Statler Brother's song has to be my favorite.

64. One of my favorite patriotic songs is "This is My Country" -- "This is my country land of my birth. This is my country grandest on earth. I pledge thee my alligence, America the bold for this is my country to have and to hold." This simple verse says it all for me.

67. No offense, but with the exception of Lee Greenwood, Alan Jackson, and the Boston Pops, I have NEVER heard of any of these songs. The fact that they all stem from the same genre f music tells me that this list is clearly biased.
Being proud to be an American and a patriot isn't just about war, but about freedom, diversity, and the rights of individuals. I agree with the Lee Greenwood song, it makes me choke up every time I hear it, but not the rest. I think Woody Guthrie's song: "This Land is Your Land" belongs on that list.

68. The only songs on your list worth mentioning are Stars and Stripes Forever and God Bless the USA. Never heard of most of the rest, and they certainly don't outshine all the suggestions others have already mentioned. God Bless America should top the list. Born in the USA. Battle Hymn of the Republic. National Anthem. America the Beautiful. Coming to America. You're a Grand Old Flag. This Land Is Your Land.

69. Hey BMG...I can assure you that there is a much larger percentage of people in the USA who have heard these songs than 10%...I'm sure at least 8 out of 10 Americans would know most of these songs. The other 2 out of 10 "Americans' like you are the ones that us "Hillbillies" sacrifice time with our families (and some even sacrifice our lives) to protect the country YOU live in. Thank you to all the performers who make these songs as there way of honoring our military and our country...and thank you to our military for protecting out wonderful country.

70. Anything that comes out of Toby Keith's mouth is jingoistic trash. He's been trying to wrap himself in the flag and try to appear "patriotic" for years. What you get from Keith is NOT patriotism; it is anger, partisan political self-agrandizement. If he could ever unhook his lips from Sean Hannity's butt, he might amount to something...

71. Popular with who????????? What about 'The Star Spangled Banner', 'America', America the Beautiful', 'God Bless America', 'You're a Grand Old Flag'...........and I could go on. These are truly great songs.

76. Poodlemomma -- Very well said. and very true.
Concerning the Boss -- As you know Bruce Springsteen has always been a voice for the working class. He and his songs are so popular because he captures the hardships we all endure. Born in the USA is a song about the hardships of the working class -- who fight all of our wars -- and the hardships faced upon returning home from Vietnam and the ravages of our economy and loss of jobs. It is factual and critical and very patriotic.

78. Prefer the Posted at 4:49PM on Jul 4th 2010 by Bob Kroepel list.
Never a big fan of the lee Greenwood song nor most you listed on your top ten. Too much country and we like too many types. Always loved God Bless America and being pretty "universal" in this nation.

80. Remember "America" sung my Neil Diamond?
Posted at 6:11PM on Jul 4th 2010 by Diane
81. I don't think that "Born in the USA" or "This land is Your Land" are true patriotic songs considering their writers are radical leftists (Bruce Springsteen and Woodie Guthrie). They wrote these songs for reasons to promote an agenda that are anything but patriotic. However, I don't see any mention of the tune "Independance Day" by Martina McBride. Great song----Great Patriot!

82. america by neil diamond should be on this list
Posted at 6:22PM on Jul 4th 2010 by debbie
83. All of the old songs you refer to should be on the list. But there is also two others as well, The Oak Ridge Boys, had "Take Pride In America" and Waylon Jennings had a great song just called "America" they are both great.

84. Toby, I am still an "Angry American". This song makes me feel like I did on 9-11, and I have NOT FORGOTTEN. While I enjoy all of the songs listed, and love tributes to America from all generations of Americans protecting freedom in their stage of eternity, this song helps me keep my promise that I would never forget, like some libs have. I am proud to be an American, and I can't wait to see Osama's lifeless body hanging from the Liberty Torch. For me, that is our boot going right up his and any enemy of the good ole USA buttock.

96. God Bless America was a Tin Pan Alley ditty written by Irving Berlin. Nice little ditty but not a song that should require people to stand up when it is played. That song has been blown way out of proportion

99. I must agree that the old ones are very moving. New patriotic songs show that there are those who recognize what a great country we live in. I'm a US Army veteran, a police officer, and a mom. Both of my daughters currently serve in the US Army (Medic & MP). Let's embrace any and all songs (country, rock, or otherwise) that are patriotic and support our troops.

100. I guess no one has ever heard the late, great singer, Kate Smith's rendition of "God Bless America". I come from a military family and that one could even make my Dad cry !

51. I always get tears in my eyes when the Star Spangled Banner is played. I wish everyone would try to sing along. It feels disrespectful not to as it's such a tribute to everything American.
